To challenge my creativity, I took part in a shoebox design competition organised by Levi’s about a month back. Participants are each given a Levi’s shoebox and tasked to design it for their spring/summer shoes collection.
I decided to settle for a Japanese pop theme shoebox. The design comes with a detachable hand-sewn kimono-cloth bag inside the box and marker-drawn manga art on the outside of the boxes, with images inspired by my Japan trip earlier this year.
My design was not short-listed for the finals. My friend, Melvin, who also took part said the ten finalists were all jeans-inspired design. I guess I probably deviated too far from Levi’s branding.
Nonetheless, I had fun doing up the design and appreciate the help from my mom and Rachel for the handiwork to complete the design. The shoebox now functions as a letter holder in my room. 🙂
