Saybons: French flair at accessible prices

Recently, Rachel and I have been frequenting this little food outlet called Saybons. It serves reasonably priced French food, and is tucked in the basement of Plaza Singapura. Here’s the exact address and their website:

Saybons
#B2-32 Plaza Singapura
68 Orchard Road
(S) 238839

Saybons is run by a company called French Food Factory and its executive chef is 28-year-old Le Cordon Bleu-trained Daphane Loke. Her vision is to offer French food that is ‘simple, fuss-free and delicious’.

I am not experienced with French food as it is usually served in restaurants that are far off my wallet range, but what I ate at Saybons, I like. 🙂

Basically, there are only two things on offer – crepes and soups. Nothing in the menu is above S$5, quite reasonable in my opinion, considering even a low quality meal at McDonald costs around S$6++ nowadays. The only thing that sucks is they only serve takeaway – then again, I guess that’s how they keep costs low.

generous serving of Nutella

Usually, we will order the Tomato Soup or Cream of Wild Mushroom and a Nutty Nutella for dessert (a real steal at S$2.60).

Rachel with a tomato soup

Rachel thinks the soup is ideal while reading a copy of Sunday Times. The combination makes a perfect Sunday afternoon for her.
