The new camera will launch on 27 November 2026, building on the popularity of the original instax mini Evo, which debuted in 2021. It retains the series’ classic design, tactile analogue style controls and creative shooting effects, while introducing upgrades intended to improve the experience of shooting, printing and sharing photos.

One of the biggest changes is the 4.5-inch LCD monitor, which is approximately 1.5 times larger than the display on the original mini Evo. The mini Evo 2 is also the first model in the instax series to feature a touchscreen, allowing users to adjust settings, switch the flash on or off and browse captured images with swipe gestures.

Image resolution has increased to a maximum of 13 megapixels, more than double that of the previous model. The improvement allows users to capture more detailed images and strengthens the camera’s capabilities as a digital camera, alongside its instant printing functions.

The mini Evo 2 also introduces instax Expanded View, a shooting mode that displays an area slightly wider than the actual print frame on the LCD monitor. This gives users a better view of the surrounding scene when composing photographs, making it easier to anticipate the movement of subjects and capture the desired framing at the right moment.

Another new feature, instax Immersive Movie, records a five second video of the moments leading up to the shutter being released. The function is designed to preserve the atmosphere surrounding a photograph, including changes in a subject’s expression and movement in the background. Users can transfer the videos to a smartphone through the dedicated app, allowing them to revisit and share the moments behind their printed pictures.

The camera retains the series’ signature creative effects, with 10 Lens Effects and 10 Film Effects that can be combined to produce 100 shooting effect combinations. Updated options include Afterimage, which creates a sense of movement, and Soft Focus for a softer, dreamier appearance. Film effects include Yellow Green for a lighter look and Deep for more subdued tones.

Fujifilm has also refined the camera’s design while maintaining its premium, classic appearance. The body features a curved form and a lens ring designed for a comfortable grip. Physical controls such as the dials and print lever provide tactile feedback and distinctive clicking sounds, reinforcing the camera’s analogue inspired shooting experience.

The dedicated app supports Bluetooth connectivity and a hig- speed transfer mode through WiFi for transferring images and videos. Its Print History feature brings transferred content together in a gallery, where users can add personal comments to preserve the stories associated with their photographs.

The mini Evo 2 can also function as a smartphone printer through its Direct Print feature. Users can print photos taken on their phones, as well as other images stored on their devices, as instax prints.

Fujifilm plans to promote the camera globally under the message “show how you see the world”. The campaign will run across online channels, social media, in store promotions and other platforms, highlighting the camera’s creative effects and its ability to capture both photographs and the moments leading up to them.

With its larger touchscreen, improved image resolution and new video recording function, the instax mini Evo 2 aims to combine digital photography with the experience of producing physical instant prints.
