Horror game Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch is now available on Nintendo Switch 2 in Asia, bringing a two-player cooperative horror experience that challenges players to work together to escape a sinister house. To mark the launch on 22 October 2026, developer Atlantis Studio and publisher Q-Games have also kicked off a World Championship offering the winning team a trip for two to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Developed by French studio Atlantis Studio and published in Asia by Kyoto based independent developer Q-Games, Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch centres on asymmetric cooperative gameplay, in which two players experience the same terrifying environment from different perspectives. Communication and teamwork are essential as they share information, solve mysteries and try to escape before the threats inside the house catch them.

One player takes on the role of the Explorer, entering the house in first person to search for clues, solve puzzles and find a way out. The other plays as the Overseer, remaining behind the cameras to monitor surveillance systems, examine documents and use tactical tools to guide their partner through the dangers ahead.

The game is designed exclusively for two players, with survival depending on how effectively they communicate. Players must give clear instructions, warn each other about approaching threats and coordinate their actions to uncover the house’s secrets.

Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch supports couch co-op, GameShare, Local Network and online play. Through GameShare, two players can play together even when one is using a Nintendo Switch 2 and the other a Nintendo Switch.

The launch also marks the start of the Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch World Championship, organised by Atlantis Studio from 22 October to 2 November 2026. Participants must form teams of two and livestream their entire playthrough on Twitch until they complete the game. Teams must then submit their highest score and the archived livestream to the designated competition email address.

The winning team will receive a trip for two to Edinburgh, including five nights of hotel accommodation and round trip transportation. The total prize value is up to €4,500. Entry is free and open to eligible participants aged 18 and above who reside in participating territories. Full rules and eligibility requirements are available through the Q-Games Discord server.
