We recently visited Food Capital for dinner to try the buffet, and the seafood section was naturally where we started. The seafood on ice comes with chilled tiger prawns, New Zealand mussels, sea whelks, scallops with roe, flower clams and Spanish black mussels.

The selection presents a good range of textures and flavours, from the sweet, firm bite of prawns to the briny freshness of mussels and clams.

Dinner also brings out some of the more indulgent offerings, including freshly shucked oysters, snow crab legs and crawfish (小龙虾).

For those who prefer your seafood cooked and flavoured, the rotating selection includes several familiar favourites like the Singapore Chilli Crab and the Black Pepper Slipper Lobster.

The Salted Egg Yolk Prawns are another crowd pleasing option, combining juicy prawns with the rich, savoury character of salted egg yolk. Meanwhile, Lobster Thermidor offers a more indulgent Western interpretation of lobster, with its creamy preparation.

Seafood Paella brings a Spanish touch to the spread, with rice cooked together with seafood and aromatic seasonings.

Garlic Butter Prawns are more straightforward but no less satisfying, while the Pan-seared Salmon with Crustacean Cream rounds out the cooked seafood selection, pairing the richness of salmon with a sauce that adds additional seafood depth.

The Japanese section adds on fresh sashimi, assorted maki rolls and Aburi Sushi, offering lighter alternatives between plates of cooked seafood.

One of the strengths of Food Capital is that seafood is not the only focus. The buffet also includes a carving station featuring crispy roast pork, roast duck and pork ribs.These are useful options for diners who may not want an entirely seafood focused meal, and they add some substantial meatier flavours to the spread.

The live stations are another area worth exploring. Food Capital’s Signature Laksa remains a familiar local favourite, while the Prawn Noodles offer another comforting Singaporean option.

For those who prefer grilled food, there is also a live grill station in the outdoor area.You can make your order with the wait staff and they will proceed to get it prepared and delivered to your table. Choose from an array of meat and seafood selection, including one serving of lobster per person.

Beyond these highlights, there is a broader international buffet selection and a dessert spread to finish the meal. That variety is important because Seafood Mania is not designed solely for hardcore seafood enthusiasts. Families and groups with different preferences should still find enough options to keep everyone occupied.

The riverside location also adds to the experience. Food Capital is located within Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, with the Singapore River providing a more relaxed backdrop than the typical enclosed hotel buffet environment.

Seafood Mania is priced at Lunch from Monday to Saturday at S$72++ per adult and S$36++ per child. Dinner from Sunday to Thursday costs S$106++ per adult and S$53++ per child, while Friday and Saturday dinner is S$116++ per adult and S$58++ per child. Children aged 5 and below dine complimentary, with the child rate applying to those aged 6 to 11.
