POCO has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the POCO F9 Ultra and POCO F9 Pro, bringing upgraded gaming performance, high resolution displays, enhanced cameras and larger batteries to the brand’s F Series.
The new devices are positioned as all round performance smartphones, with both models featuring Qualcomm flagship mobile platforms and POCO’s dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset. The POCO F9 Ultra leads the lineup with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform and recorded an AnTuTu score of 4,165,108, which POCO says is the highest score recorded on a POCO smartphone.
For gamers, one of the biggest highlights is support for Smart frame rate of up to 185FPS. The VisionBoost D8 chipset works alongside the main processor to deliver smoother gameplay, while Smart frame rate and AI Super Resolution can operate simultaneously to improve motion and image detail.
POCO says more than 20 games can support 185FPS natively, while additional titles can reach the same frame rate through Smart frame rate. Compared with 120FPS gaming, the higher frame rate provides 65 additional frames per second and reduces the refresh interval by 3ms, allowing players to react more quickly during gameplay.
The phones also feature the WildBoost Engine, Game Color Enhancement and high touch sampling rates. These include a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, 480Hz 10-point touch sampling rate and 200Hz gyroscope sampling rate, designed to provide faster and more precise responses to taps, swipes and movements.
Both models feature 185Hz POCO HyperRGB AMOLED displays. The POCO F9 Ultra comes with a 6.9-inch screen, while the POCO F9 Pro uses a more compact 6.59-inch display.
POCO HyperRGB technology uses a full RGB subpixel structure that makes use of individual red, green and blue subpixels to produce vibrant and detailed visuals while reducing power consumption. The phones also introduce the new M luminescent material, delivering up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness in multiple scenarios and up to 10,000 nits for HDR content.
The F9 Series also introduces Xiaomi Vision Care, POCO’s first comprehensive eye care solution. The displays have received TÜV Rheinland Quadruple Eye Care certification, with features designed to help reduce eye fatigue during extended periods of reading, video watching and smartphone use.
Keeping temperatures under control is the POCO 3D IceLoop cooling system, which is designed to maintain stable performance during extended and demanding workloads, including gaming.
The two smartphones also take different approaches to design. The POCO F9 Ultra features a dynamic rear light that can display personalised effects for calls, notifications, gaming and music. The POCO F9 Pro introduces POCO’s first full panel luminous design on the Aurora Green variant, which produces a soft glow in darkness after exposure to sunlight or indoor lighting. Users can also create luminous patterns using a blue violet laser pointer.
Audio is another area receiving an upgrade through POCO’s expanded partnership with Bose. The F9 Series incorporates Sound by Bose technology with hardware and software tuning designed to deliver a more immersive listening experience.
The POCO F9 Ultra combines dual symmetrical 1115D stereo speakers with a large 1620 independent subwoofer to create a 2.1 channel audio setup. POCO says the configuration delivers deeper bass, a wider soundstage and a more stable sound image.
The POCO F9 Pro features dual symmetrical 1115F super linear stereo speakers with a Sealed Cavity Design, aiming to provide detailed sound across the frequency range, including stronger midrange and clearer high frequencies.
Two sound profiles are available across the lineup. Dynamic is designed to deliver a fuller bass character, while Balanced focuses on a more balanced presentation and vocals. Sound by Bose tuning is also designed to maintain detail at lower volumes and minimise distortion at higher volumes.
For gamers, a new Game audio mode increases the loudness of footsteps while retaining other audio details such as gunfire and voices. The feature is designed to help players identify directional audio cues more easily during gameplay.
Battery life is another major focus. The POCO F9 Ultra packs an 8,050mAh battery, the largest capacity used in the POCO F Series to date. Its battery incorporates 16% silicon carbon content and is designed to deliver up to two days of battery life.
The POCO F9 Pro comes with a 6,330mAh battery while maintaining a more compact form factor.
Both models support 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge. They also support 27W wired and 22.5W wireless reverse charging, allowing the smartphones to provide power to compatible devices.
On the imaging front, the F9 Series introduces POCO’s first 200MP ultra clear camera system with optical image stabilisation on both models. A dedicated 200MP shooting mode is designed to capture additional detail for cropping, reframing and editing after taking a photo.
A 32MP front camera handles selfies and video calls, while the rear camera setups differ between the two models.
The POCO F9 Ultra features a 5x periscope telephoto camera, with 10x lossless zoom and up to 20x AI Ultra Zoom for distant subjects.
The POCO F9 Pro instead features a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto camera capable of focusing from as close as 10cm, allowing it to handle both close up macro photography and distant subjects.
Both smartphones also support Live cinematography, with 4K ultra HD video recording, automated focal transitions and fluid lens shifts designed to give everyday footage a more cinematic look.
In Singapore, the POCO F9 Ultra will be available in Dark Cherry and Black, with configurations of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, 16GB and 512GB, and 16GB and 1TB.
The POCO F9 Pro will come in White, Aurora Green and Black, with 12GB and 256GB or 12GB and 512GB configurations.
