Xiaomi’s New REDMI Note 17 Series Promises Smartphones Built for Years

Xiaomi has unveiled the REDMI Note 17 Series, its latest generation of mid-range smartphones, with four new models led by the first-ever REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G.

The new lineup focuses on long-term durability, battery endurance and flagship-inspired features, with Xiaomi positioning the series around its “Built for Years” philosophy. The four models are the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17.

The launch also marks a milestone for the REDMI Note Series, which has surpassed 500 million shipments worldwide. Xiaomi says the latest generation continues its focus on making premium features and quality more accessible to consumers.

At the top of the range, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G introduces Xiaomi’s largest-ever smartphone battery at 10,000mAh. The device also features 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G comes with an 8,340mAh battery and 67W HyperCharge, while the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 are equipped with 7,700mAh batteries and 45W turbo charging.

Xiaomi says the batteries can retain at least 80% of their original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, equivalent to approximately six years of typical use. The battery performance has also been validated through TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification, following testing covering cycle lifespan, endurance, impact resistance and performance under extreme temperatures.

Durability is another major focus of the new series. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G are the first smartphones in the industry to receive TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification, according to Xiaomi. The certification assesses drop resistance, water resistance and battery performance through laboratory and real-world testing.

Both Pro models feature IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, along with a 2-metre, 72-hour water-resistance test. They also introduce an Underwater Mode, while Wet Touch Technology 2.0 is designed to maintain touch accuracy when the screen detects water, oil, foam or sweat.

For accidental drops, the two Pro models have received SGS certification after being tested against drops of up to three metres onto granite surfaces. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 adds further protection against everyday drops and scratches. Internally, the devices use a high-strength motherboard, reinforced MDA mid-frame and impact-absorbing cushion design to help protect components from impacts.

The series also receives a refreshed design featuring redesigned camera modules, flat displays, gently rounded corners and dual-finish rear panels. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is available in an exclusive Cloud Blush finish with a photochromic back cover that changes from cloud white to a warm pink-orange shade under UV light. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is offered in Satin Orange and Sky Blue, with Satin Orange featuring a glitter process that creates individual patterns on each device.

On the display front, the Pro models feature 6.83-inch screens, while the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 offer larger 6.99-inch displays. The Pro models also feature 1.5K resolution, up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and a 3200Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G further enhances audio with up to a 400% volume boost.

Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform on the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which Xiaomi says is designed to handle intensive gaming, 4K content and multitasking. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G support up to 24GB of RAM through Memory Extension.

Artificial intelligence features are also part of the lineup. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G comes with Xiaomi HyperAI for productivity and creative assistance, while Google Gemini and Circle to Search with Google are available across the entire REDMI Note 17 Series.

For photography and video, the series is designed to deliver enhanced clarity and more natural-looking portraits. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G supports 4K video recording at 30fps, while dual-video recording is available across the lineup. Professional Video mode and Live Moment are offered on the two Pro models.

AI-powered editing tools are also available, including AI Glare Removal on the Pro models, alongside AI Erase Pro, AI Beautify and AI Image Enhancement.

In Singapore, the REDMI Note 17 Series will be available through mi.com, Xiaomi’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada, Xiaomi Stores and participating partner stores. Pre-orders began on 27 August 2026 at 8pm SGT and run until 2 September, with promotional offers available through 30 September.

Customers who pre-order or purchase the series by 30 September will receive special warranty benefits worth up to S$1,266, including a free battery replacement, screen repair, back cover replacement and liquid damage repair. Selected purchases through Xiaomi Stores and mi.com will also receive 30% off Xiaomi Care Extended Warranty Service, while stocks last.

Purchasers of the REDMI Note 17 Series by 2 September 2027 will also be eligible for a 24-month quality assurance period from the date of first purchase. Additional complimentary benefits include a six-month Google One trial with 200GB of cloud storage and a two-month YouTube Premium trial with access to ad-free, offline and background playback.
