Grab Singapore has awarded its 2026 Emerald Circle Scholarship to 10 university students, with each recipient receiving up to S$15,000 in bond free financial support to pursue their university education.
Since the programme was launched in 2018, the Grab Emerald Circle Scholarships and Bursaries have benefited more than 3,070 students and families of Grab driver and delivery partners across Singapore. To date, the initiative has awarded more than 70 university scholarships alongside over 3,000 bursaries, reflecting Grab’s continued investment in supporting the educational aspirations of its partner community.
This year’s 10 scholarship recipients were selected from nearly 300 applications and represent a diverse range of academic interests, including science, engineering and the arts.
Among them is Tara Anaiya, who hopes to pursue a career in neuroscience research with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases and improving healthcare accessibility. She has already developed several prototypes of a sleep apnea device, contributed to improving clinic workflows during an internship and actively volunteers to inspire younger students to explore careers in science.
Another recipient, Nirvashini D/O Pannirselvam, is pursuing her passion for the arts with ambitions of becoming a novelist. After transitioning from a background in business and science, she discovered a deep appreciation for the English language and now hopes to use storytelling to engage young readers in Singapore while building a meaningful career in the creative industry.
The scholarships also represent an important milestone for the families behind each recipient. Grab driver partner See Tzu Leck shared that the scholarship will provide valuable financial support for his daughter, See Shin Tong, as she pursues studies in business and communications. He hopes the opportunity will help her explore a future career in video production while easing the financial burden of higher education.
The Grab Emerald Circle Scholarships and Bursaries form part of Grab Singapore’s wider efforts to improve the welfare and opportunities available to driver and delivery partners and their families. These initiatives include GrabBenefits 2.0, under which Grab has committed S$4 million annually towards enhanced welfare support for platform workers. Grab also offers educational pathways through GrabAcademy’s partnership with the London School of Business and Finance, giving partners and their family members greater access to tertiary learning opportunities.
