Meta has introduced Muse Image, its first image generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, bringing a new generation of AI powered creativity to Meta AI. Designed as a creative partner that understands users and their preferences, Muse Image enables people to generate, edit and share high quality visuals using simple conversational prompts across Meta’s ecosystem.
Building on the foundation established by Muse Spark, which enhanced Meta AI’s intelligence, Muse Image expands those capabilities by allowing users to create original images, edit existing photos and produce visuals that can be shared directly to Instagram feeds, Stories, chats and other Meta platforms. The new model also powers more than 30 AI effects for Instagram Stories and image generation within Meta AI chats on WhatsApp, with the rollout beginning in selected countries before expanding further.
Muse Image is designed to simplify the creative process by allowing users to describe what they want in natural language. Whether creating an image from scratch or modifying an existing photo, users can generate scenes such as posing in front of famous landmarks, remove unwanted objects like photobombers, or even create functional QR codes through custom prompts. The model also improves text rendering within images, making it possible to generate clear and visually appealing guides, posters and infographics.
To make it easier for users to get started, Meta AI now includes a preset panel featuring suggested prompts. These presets can restore old family photos, apply trending hairstyles, transform portraits into claymation style artwork or recreate users as characters inspired by classic 16–bit video games. Creations can then be shared easily across Meta’s apps, allowing others to use the same presets on their own photos.
Muse Image also extends into home inspiration. Users can upload a photo of a room and ask Meta AI to redesign the space using real products sourced from the web or Facebook Marketplace. By specifying a preferred design style or asking the AI to incorporate current trends, users can visualise different room makeovers before making purchasing decisions.
According to Meta, Muse Image goes beyond simple image generation by combining advanced reasoning capabilities from Muse Spark. Before creating an image, the AI plans layouts, gathers relevant real time web context and intelligently blends multiple visual references to better match a user’s request. This enables more complex creations, such as placing a pet into a famous painting or combining multiple personal photos into a customised postcard.
The platform also introduces deeper integration with Instagram through support for @ mentions. Users can tag public Instagram accounts within the Meta AI app, allowing the model to incorporate publicly available images from those profiles into creative projects such as invitations, collaborative concepts and personalised graphics. Meta said users remain in control through settings that allow them to disable the feature if they do not want their content used in AI generated creations.
Editing generated images has also been streamlined. Users can tap the markup tool to circle areas, sketch edits or add annotations directly onto an image. Since Meta AI remembers the context of the ongoing conversation, users can continue refining their creations by changing styles, adding new elements or adjusting details without having to begin the process again.
Looking ahead, Meta plans to expand Muse Image to more countries and additional services, including Facebook, Messenger and more areas within Instagram and WhatsApp. In the coming weeks, advertisers and agencies will also gain access to the technology through Advantage+ Creative.
Muse Image is available at no cost for everyday use through Meta AI, while users who require higher usage limits can access additional capabilities through Meta’s subscription plans. Meta also revealed that Muse Video is currently in development, signalling the company’s broader ambition to expand AI powered creative tools as it continues its push toward personal superintelligence.
