GetActive! Singapore’s much-loved Dance of the Nation returns for its 11th edition this year, inviting Singaporeans of all ages to get moving, stay active, and celebrate National Day together through a fun and energetic dance challenge.
Launched in 2016 by Sport Singapore, Dance of the Nation has become a signature annual initiative that brings communities together through a simple dance routine set to the year’s National Day Parade music. As part of GetActive! Singapore’s wider mission to encourage active lifestyles and strengthen community bonds, the programme continues to champion fitness, inclusivity and national pride.
Dance of the Nation 2026 officially launches on 12 June at 5pm via ActiveSG Circle and NDPeeps platforms. This year’s choreography is set to a remix of two songs from the Go Beyond: NDP 2026 Album, You’ll Be Okay and Sparkle, continuing Sport Singapore’s ongoing collaboration with the National Day Parade team.
Designed to be accessible for everyone regardless of age or fitness level, the routine features easy-to-follow moves such as the Stomp & Clap, Boogie and Sassy Snap. Whether performed individually or in a group, the dance aims to get Singaporeans active while celebrating the nation’s birthday.
Adding an extra layer of excitement this year is the launch of the Dance of the Nation 2026 Contest. Open to all residents in Singapore, the contest runs from 12 June to 16 August 2026 and encourages participants to showcase their creativity by sharing dance videos on social media.
To participate, individuals simply need to record themselves dancing to any favourite section of the Dance of the Nation song for at least 30 seconds, upload the video to their public Instagram, TikTok or Facebook account, tag @activesgcircle and include the hashtag #DOTN26.
Entries submitted by 12 July 2026 will also stand a chance to win tickets to the National Day Parade 2026 National Education Show on 18 July 2026.
A total of 20 prizes will be awarded to the most creative and original submissions that best capture the spirit of togetherness and National Day celebrations. These include five pairs of tickets to the NDP 2026 National Education Show and 15 exclusive GetActive! Singapore goodie bags and vouchers.
Participants are encouraged to go beyond the official choreography and inject their own personality into their videos. This could include filming at iconic Singapore landmarks, incorporating humour, dressing up in creative costumes, or creating engaging group performances with family and friends. The focus is on expressing pride, spirit and love for Singapore in a unique and memorable way.
The accompanying Dance of the Nation 2026 music video reflects the same spirit of inclusivity and community. Filmed over 18 hours across five days and four locations, the production featured more than 100 Singaporeans from all walks of life. Shooting locations included ActiveSG Hougang Sport Centre, Toa Payoh Dragon Playground, the National Stadium and Marina Barrage.
Participants ranged from Team Singapore athletes and students to seniors from Active Ageing Centres, with many joining Dance of the Nation for the first time. Ages ranged from just five years old to 71 years old, highlighting the programme’s commitment to bringing generations together through movement and shared celebration.
