Google is transforming the way people shop online with the launch of its new apparel try-on tool, “Try On”, now rolling out in Singapore over the coming weeks.
Developed to make online shopping more personal and practical, the feature allows users to virtually try on clothing using just a single full-length photo. The experience is designed to help shoppers better visualise how apparel will look on their own body, addressing one of the most common challenges in online fashion shopping.
According to Google, the Try On feature is powered by a custom image generation model built specifically for fashion. The system is designed to understand the human body as well as how different fabrics behave, including how materials fold, stretch and drape across various body types. This enables more realistic visualisations compared to standard product images or model photos.
To use the feature, shoppers can tap on any eligible apparel listing on Google Search or Google Images, then select the “try it on” option. Users will be prompted to upload a full-length photo, after which the system generates a preview showing how the selected clothing item may look when worn.
The process is simple and designed for quick experimentation. Users can try multiple outfits, explore different colours and styles, and compare looks in real time. Favourite combinations can also be saved or shared with friends, making the experience more interactive and social.
