Strong Growth in Southeast Asia

The anniversary comes at a time of rapid expansion in Asia–Africa travel. By late 2025, travel between Singapore and Africa had increased 57%, while Ethiopian Airlines’ passenger volumes via Singapore grew 87% year-on-year. The airline expects to transport over 200,000 travellers from Asia via Singapore to Addis Ababa by the end of 2026, with convenient connections to more than 60 African destinations.

To meet rising demand, Ethiopian Airlines now operates five weekly direct flights between Singapore and Addis Ababa, supporting both passenger and cargo needs, while reinforcing Singapore as a strategic gateway to Africa for corporates, SMEs, investors, and regional institutions.

Looking Ahead: Vision 2035 and Innovation

The airline’s expansion strengthens Addis Ababa as a key link between Southeast Asia and Africa, aligning with Ethiopian Airlines’ Vision 2035 and long-term growth strategy. Investments continue in fleet modernisation and next-generation capacity, including additions to both widebody and narrowbody aircraft.
