Young calligraphy enthusiasts across Singapore are set to take centre stage this April as the Ngee Ann National Students’ Calligraphy Competition 2026 (SCC 2026) opens for registration.
Organised by the Ngee Ann Cultural Centre, the annual competition is a free national arts event that provides students with a meaningful platform to showcase their Chinese calligraphy skills in a live, on-site setting. This year’s edition will take place on Saturday, 4 April 2026, at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, marking the first time the competition will be held along Orchard Road.
Open to students from primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, polytechnics, and other equivalent institutions, the competition aims to promote the appreciation of Chinese calligraphy while nurturing young artistic talent.
Participants will demonstrate their skills on site, making it one of the few calligraphy competitions in Singapore conducted entirely in a live format. The experience not only encourages artistic growth but also allows students to compete, learn, and gain confidence in the traditional art form.
Winners across the various categories will receive cash prizes, trophies, certificates, and/or bookstore vouchers.
