FairPrice Group (FPG) has launched Xtra Lab, its first flagship platform dedicated to global innovation and international food curation, at FairPrice Xtra Jurong Point. The new concept marks a strategic evolution for the hypermarket brand, transforming the traditional grocery run into a lifestyle-led foodie experience focused on discovery.
Positioned as an innovation engine for FairPrice Xtra, Xtra Lab operates as a store-in-store platform where shoppers can explore emerging food trends, exclusive imports and curated global selections. The debut concept under this platform is 霸霸店 (Bà Bà Diàn), a discovery-driven showcase spotlighting the “Best of Asia.”
Xtra Lab is designed as an overarching platform that will house rotating international themes. While its first edition centres on Asia, FairPrice Group has indicated that future concepts could spotlight regions such as Japan or Europe, reinforcing FairPrice Xtra’s ambition to become a curator of global food culture at scale.
At Jurong Point, this vision comes to life through 霸霸店 (Bà Bà Diàn). The name plays on the Chinese term for hypermarket, 霸级市场 (Bà Jí Shì Chǎng), with the repeated “霸” symbolising FairPrice Xtra’s leadership and authority in defining food trends for Singapore shoppers.
Although 霸霸店 (Bà Bà Diàn) is positioned as a showcase of Asia’s culinary diversity, its debut season focuses on the best of China. The concept brings exclusive heritage brands and viral food sensations to Singapore, many for the first time.
In total, the store features 612 products, including 472 new and exclusive items, offering a blend of time-honoured favourites and trending Asian snacks.
A major highlight is the international debut of Quan Ju De (全聚德)’s frozen ready-to-eat Peking Duck, launching outside mainland China for the first time and available exclusively at FairPrice Xtra.
The store also presents a curated selection of wang hong (网红) viral products, developed in partnership with Dingdong Fresh (叮咚买菜), a leading Chinese on-demand grocery platform, and Hong Xin Da (鸿鑫达), a Singapore-based food and beverage supply chain specialist.
