A Wildly “Horse-Picious” Lunar New Year at Mandai Wildlife Reserve

Gallop into the Year of the Horse with a festive celebration at Mandai Wildlife Reserve from 17 February to 3 March 2026. Spanning both Mandai Wildlife East and West, the Lunar New Year festivities promise vibrant installations, wildlife encounters and family-friendly activities designed to usher in luck, joy and new beginnings.

Visitors will be greeted by eye-catching displays and interactive photo spots, including striking calligraphy topiaries spelling “马” (horse). From auspicious gold coins to specially themed animal enrichment sessions and engaging digital trails, the celebrations blend tradition with wildlife-inspired fun.

Be among the first 188 visitors each day at Curiosity Cove, the newly opened indoor playscape, or any of the five wildlife parks: Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise and Rainforest Wild Asia, and receive a limited-edition gold coin embossed with the Year of the Horse zodiac. This exclusive collectible makes for a meaningful festive keepsake while stocks last.

Festive Fun with Animal Ambassadors

Animal ambassadors take centre stage throughout the celebrations, delivering festive greetings and even “selecting” lucky numbers in playful presentations. Across the parks, guests can observe animals enjoying Lunar New Year-themed enrichment activities designed to stimulate their natural instincts.

At Singapore Zoo’s Wild Africa zone, Grevy’s zebras, the largest and most endangered zebra species, will explore enrichment setups that encourage natural foraging behaviours. Visitors can also meet a three-month-old female zebra foal who has quickly become a crowd favourite. This adorable “stripe of good fortune” symbolises fresh beginnings and harmony for the year ahead.

Special Lunar New Year Experiences at Singapore Zoo

Singapore Zoo’s popular Breakfast in the Wild experience continues to delight guests with close encounters alongside animal ambassadors such as orangutans, African penguins and Bengal eagle owls. For the festive season, guests will also enjoy special appearances by falabellas, the world’s smallest breed of horses, adding an extra dose of charm to the celebrations.

In conjunction with the Year of the Horse, Singapore Zoo is introducing a brand-new programme, Hello from the Wild: Horse. Guided by animal keepers, this interactive session offers guests an up-close encounter with a pony and falabellas, while learning more about these gentle and curious animals.

Horse-Picious Digital Trails and Family Activities

Visitors can extend the fun by participating in the “Horse-picious” digital trails via the Mandai App from 17 to 23 February 2026. By uncovering clues around each wildlife park and solving them in the app, participants can reveal the park’s Lunar New Year star animal. Those who successfully gather all five clues can redeem an exclusive Lunar New Year-themed keychain, limited to the first 150 redemptions per day.

Festive Shopping and WildPass Perks

Beyond wildlife encounters, visitors can browse retail outlets across Mandai Wildlife Reserve for festive merchandise, including tangerine-themed bags, purses and eco-friendly red packets made from plantable paper that grow into flowers and herbs.

Local residents can enjoy year-round discounted access with WildPass, with admission to the five parks and Curiosity Cove starting from S$31.50. WildPass holders also receive complimentary entry during their birthday month when accompanied by one paying adult.
