Leading this year’s line-up is the highly anticipated return of the Dendeng Bak Kwa Chicken’O, joined by the debut of the Trio Nian Gao Spring’O, adding both savoury and sweet options to reunion gatherings.

Dendeng Bak Kwa Chicken’O Returns with a Symbolic Twist

First introduced in 2022, the Dendeng Bak Kwa Chicken’O makes its comeback with an updated recipe specially crafted for the Year of the Horse.

The sweet-savoury puff features smoky BBQ dendeng chicken bak kwa paired with crunchy water chestnut, sweet corn, carrot and spring onion. Lightly seasoned with ground chilli and black pepper, the filling delivers a balanced festive bite wrapped in Old Chang Kee’s signature golden crust.

Dash to Cart

This year’s version carries added symbolism with the inclusion of water chestnut, known in Chinese as 马蹄 (ma ti). The character 马, meaning “horse,” reflects hopes for strength, prosperity and good fortune in the year ahead.

Adding to the festive fun, each puff is randomly stamped with one of four auspicious Chinese characters 興, 旺, 發 and 财 symbolising growth, prosperity, success and wealth. The imprints offer a playful nod to traditional New Year blessings, making each piece both meaningful and shareable.

The Dendeng Bak Kwa Chicken’O will be available at all Old Chang Kee outlets from 2 February to 3 March 2026, priced at $3 per piece. It will also be offered via delivery platforms including GrabFood, Deliveroo and Foodpanda. The product is halal-certified, making it accessible for customers of all backgrounds to enjoy during the festive season.

New Trio Nian Gao Spring’O Debuts

Complementing the savoury favourite is the launch of the Trio Nian Gao Spring’O, the newest addition to Old Chang Kee’s Spring’O range.

Designed as a sweet reunion treat, the Trio Nian Gao Spring’O combines sticky rice (nian gao), yam and sweet potato in one bite-sized snack. Wrapped in a crispy spring roll skin, it offers a satisfying contrast between chewy and crunchy textures.

Presented in three vibrant colours, the trio symbolises harmony, abundance and sweetness for the year ahead, themes closely associated with Chinese New Year celebrations.

The Trio Nian Gao Spring’O will retail at $2.30 per piece and will be available at all Old Chang Kee outlets from 2 February to 3 March 2026, while stocks last daily. Customers can also order the festive treat through GrabFood, Deliveroo and Foodpanda.
