A dazzling fireworks display lights up Our Tampines Hub Town Square as residents welcome the New Year
The Tampines community came together in jubilant fashion to usher in 2026 at Our Tampines Hub (OTH), as 5,000 residents and visitors gathered at the OTH Town Square for a lively New Year’s Eve celebration. Singapore’s first and largest integrated community and lifestyle hub was transformed into a buzzing communal space, filled with music, dance and shared moments of joy as families, friends and neighbours rang in the new year together.
The highlight of the evening was Tampines Together: The Countdown Concert, which celebrated the district’s strong spirit of togetherness through an exciting lineup of homegrown talent. Performances by Boon Hui Lu, Allan Moo, John Klass and Maia Lee kept the crowd entertained, while percussion ensemble Oneida Batuke delivered an energetic showcase that reflected Singapore’s rich multicultural identity. An interest group under the Tampines East Youth Network, Oneida Batuke comprises passionate Tampines residents whose dynamic blend of rhythms and performance styles made the celebration truly by residents, for residents.
Advisers of Tampines GRC, including Minister Masagos Zulkifli, Mr Baey Yam Keng, Dr Charlene Chen and Mr Desmond Choo, were also present at the event, mingling with residents and exchanging New Year greetings as the community gathered to mark the start of 2026. The night culminated in a collective countdown and a spectacular fireworks display, drawing cheers as the sky lit up to welcome the new year.
The celebrations extended beyond New Year’s Eve, running from 31 December 2025 to 1 January 2026 with a diverse programme of activities across OTH. Residents enjoyed a wide range of performances, cultural showcases and interactive workshops, from hands-on craft and upcycling sessions to culinary classes, e-sports experiences, family-friendly activities and live music performances, ensuring there was something for everyone.
Adding a reflective touch to the festivities, an interactive Resolution Wall at OTH Festive Walk South invited residents to pen their hopes and wishes for the year ahead. These messages were displayed on screen, creating a shared space of optimism and collective aspiration as the community stepped into the new year together.
Activities such as Fitness Bonanza 2026 and Play2Gather further brought residents of all ages together through energetic physical challenges and digital gameplay. Participants took part in a variety of exercise try-outs, including step aerobics, HIIT, Piloxing, Zumba, Afro, Hip Hop and Cardio Dance classes, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition across generations. At Play2Gather, families explored immersive e-sports, simulators and gaming experiences, adding a modern, interactive element to the celebrations.
Younger visitors were not left out, with Festive Walk East featuring Pororo Singapore x OTH Kids Club activities such as colouring workshops, bookmark-making sessions and a Pororo-themed bouncy castle, delighting children throughout the festivities.
