Dongfeng 007 Launches in Singapore with International Superstar

If there was ever a moment that proved the Singapore car scene has levelled up, it was 18 October 2025 at Funan Mall. Under the campaign theme “UNLOCKED: 007 with Jessica Jung”, Volt Auto rolled out the red carpet for the debut of the Dongfeng 007, their next-generation electric sedan.

Now, car launches here are usually quite lively. Some have dancing lions, some have loud music, some have lucky draws. But Volt Auto, the local distributor behind Dongfeng Singapore? They looked at all that and said, “Let’s fly in Jessica Jung.”

Yes, that Jessica Jung. She’s a global superstar. A Fashion icon. A former member of SNSD. And probably the most glamorous person ever to stand next to a car at Funan. According to Volt Auto, this is the first time a car brand in Singapore has brought in an international celebrity just to launch a car. What a confident flex!

Ok, what about the Dongfeng 007?

A little context first. The Dongfeng 00 landed barely a year after Dongfeng entered Singapore with the cheerful and budget-friendly Dongfeng Box. The Box has already gone on to become Singapore’s best-selling compact EV, which is no small feat for a newcomer.

But if the Box is the friendly, petite overachiever, the 007 is the mysterious macho older sibling with sharp cheekbones and a gym membership. It looks like a sensible family sedan, but behaves in a way that makes you wonder if it secretly moonlights as a supercar.

Key specifications in a nutshell:
• 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds
• Up to 650 km of range
• 9-minute fast charging
• Packed with Dongfeng’s latest intelligence features

In other words, it is elegant, fast, clever, and slightly dangerous in the wrong hands. Volt Auto’s Managing Director Soh Ming described it best:

“The Dongfeng 007 is not just a car. It represents luxury, boldness, intelligence, and the future of mobility. Jessica carries those qualities too, and her presence helped us tell that story in a very memorable way.”

Beyond the performance numbers, the 007 is built like a flagship. At Dongfeng’s Wuhan facility, important jobs like glass installation, sunroof fitting, bonding, and structural inspections are handled by precision robots. These systems can even detect tiny air bubbles in adhesive layers, which is frankly more attention to detail than what most of us give to our skin-care routines.

Before any car leaves the factory, it is checked against more than 1,800 inspection points. Every single vehicle also goes through a full dynamic road test, including a flood-resistance assessment of up to 40 cm of water. Singapore’s monsoon season will not scare this one.

Getting Cozy with Jessica Jung

After the mall launch, Jessica made her way to Volt Auto’s showroom at Tai Seng for a private media interview. A small group of lifestyle and entertainment journalists were invited to chat with her in a cosy, curated setting.

She spoke about design, innovation, her impressions of the Dongfeng 007, and how happy she was to be back in Singapore.

“I’m honoured to be part of this exciting launch. I was completely impressed by the design. It is sleek, beautiful, and very thoughtfully created. I hope people in Singapore will be inspired to try new things. Do not be afraid to open new doors.”

Beautifully said. And very on-brand for a campaign called “UNLOCKED”.

The session ended beautiful with the Volt Auto team presenting a box of Pandan cake to Jessica Jung – something she mentioned she’s heard about and always wanted to try.

The Future is Bright for Volt Auto

Volt Auto also shared its upcoming plans during the event. The brand is preparing to enter the Malaysia market in 2026 and hopes to establish a knock-down assembly plant there around the same time. This opens the door for more localisation and possibly better affordability in future Dongfeng EVs.
