Audi A6: ICE Lovers Rejoice!

For those who love a luxurious sedan that still runs on the good ‘ol internal combustion engine, the ninth generation Audi A6 Sedan is a strong contender.

The dinosaur-juice-drinking A6 comes with two engine options, the “tame” TFSI 150 kW engine (0-100 km/h in 8.2s) and powerful V6 turbocharged TFSI 270 kW engine with MHEV plus mild hybrid technology (0-100 km/h in 4.7s).

With a drag coefficient of just 0.23 which is among the best in a consumer sedan, Audi engineers have shown that it is possible to design a car that looks great while having great aerodynamics.

And no matter which option you pick, the A6 comes with a premium interior that is unmistakably Audi: sleek, business-oriented, high tech and practical.

Likening the interior to a business lounge, Audi has designed the new A6 with ample interior space, 4-zone deluxe automatic air conditioning, power latching function for all doors (that in our tests, automatically pulls the door shut with just a light nudge) and Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium sound system with 16 speakers and 685 watts.

On the move, Audi promises a quiet and refined cabin, thanks to its advanced sound insulation and acoustic glazing that has been improved by up to 30% as compared to the previous generation.

All variants of the A6 comes with progressive steering, while the TFSI 270kW version comes with Quattro all-wheel drive with sports differential and an optional adaptive air suspension.

The A6 also sports an impressive taillight, with subtle arrow motifs that transforms into a triangle when hazard lights are active.

Audi A6 Sportback e-tron: Leading the charge

If the internal combustion engine variant of the A6 is catered for motoring purists, the A6 e-tron is catered for discerning electric vehicle (EV) buyers who want the latest and greatest.

The Audi A6 e-tron is the second Audi model built on its highly regarded Premium Platform Electric (PPE) chassis, and the first model to adopt a full flat floor concept.

With Audi’s best ever drag coefficient of 0.21, and its expansive 83kWh battery, the A6 e-tron promises to have an impressive driving range that is ample for most drivers.

The Audi A6 e-tron’s power unit puts out a sporty 210 kW, and can be further pushed to 240 kW with launch control activated for a 0-100km/h sprint of 6.0 seconds.

The performance variant of the A6 e-tron, the S6 e-tron comes with an eye-watering 370 kW power unit that can be boosted to 405 kW with launch control. It manages the century sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

And as if claiming two “first” titles is not enough, the A6 e-tron is also the first Audi vehicle to feature an illuminated four rings at the rear. A design that we expect would trickle down to other Audi models soon.
