Crunchyroll Announces 2025 Anime Awards Winners in Tokyo After Record-Breaking 51 Million Global Votes

Anime’s biggest night returned in spectacular fashion as Crunchyroll revealed the winners of the 2025 Anime Awards during a star-studded ceremony in Tokyo, with a record-breaking 51 million votes cast by fans across the globe.

Held at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa, the 9th annual Anime Awards celebrated the creators, musicians, and performers behind the world’s most beloved anime. Hosted for the third consecutive year by voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira, the event featured a dazzling lineup of celebrity presenters including GRAMMY winner Kacey Musgraves, Stranger Things stars Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo, global reggaeton icon J Balvin, Damiano David of Måneskin, Rina Sawayama, Pabllo Vittar, Chloe Kim, and Japanese stars Dean Fujioka, Mayu Matsuoka, Kanata Hongo, and Saya Ichikawa.

The awards ceremony featured showstopping performances, including viral hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts performing their Anime Awards-winning track “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” from Mashle: Magic and Muscles, and iconic rock band FLOW delivering “DAYS” in celebration of Eureka Seven’s 20th anniversary. Fan-favorite LiSA also took to the stage with a trio of hits, including “Gurenge” from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. A special on-demand performance of “Otonoke”, theme song of Anime of the Year nominee Dan Da Dan, will be available soon.

One of the night’s most emotional moments came when Attack on Titan was honored with the first-ever Global Impact Award, celebrating its profound influence on global pop culture. Director Yuichiro Hayashi from MAPPA accepted the award, recognizing the entire creative team behind the landmark anime, which concluded with Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK in late 2024.

The pre-show was co-hosted by Crunchyroll’s Lauren Moore and Tim Lyu, and featured appearances from drag sensation Plastique Tiara, boxer Ben Whittaker, artists d4vd and Paloma Mami, VTuber Ironmouse, and legendary anime YouTuber Gigguk.

This year’s fan vote saw enthusiastic participation from across the globe, with top-voting countries including Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Notably, Canada and Chile entered the top ten for the first time.
