Families now have a new reason to visit Gardens by the Bay with the launch of Singapore’s first family-themed destination playground—the centrepiece of the new PropNex Family Zone. Officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and Minister of State Sun Xueling, the PropNex Family Zone is a joint initiative by Community Chest of Singapore, Families for Life, Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), Gardens by the Bay, and PropNex. It builds on a 2022 legacy project celebrating Singapore families and supports the A Singapore Made for Families 2025 vision.

Highlights of the PropNex Family Zone

Taking play to new heights—literally—the playground features two towering 9m-tall Supertree-inspired structures that light up in a synchronised night-time show, a first-of-its-kind in Singapore. The sandpit even sparkles with creative light projections after dark, making evening play sessions a magical experience.

Beloved Families for Life mascot Becky Bunny stars as a climbable structure with a slide, joined by her multi-generational bunny family, creating imaginative spaces for kids to explore. The custom-built equipment also promotes family values such as love, care, and respect through play.

The expanded Community Garden now includes an edible garden with accessible features like raised planter beds and wide paths for wheelchair users. A shaded pavilion offers a calm space for small group gatherings and workshops. Nearby, the revitalised Event Lawn—and an upcoming Community Stage set to open in 2026—will host performances, community programmes, and family celebrations.

Strengthening Bonds Through Events

Already the backdrop for nearly 900 wedding solemnisations, the PropNex Family Zone continues to support meaningful milestones and family-focused programmes. Future initiatives include parenting and grandparenting workshops, and inclusive events co-organised with social service agencies for seniors and individuals with special needs.

The new Wellness Friday series, launched last month, is one such initiative—offering therapeutic gardening, mental health talks, and active ageing activities for seniors under the Gift of Gardens outreach programme.

Art for All: Happy Life by Manolo Valdés

Adding to the celebratory launch was the unveiling of Happy Life, a joyful sculpture by acclaimed Spanish artist Manolo Valdés, donated by private patron Ms Lee Tuan. With its bold colours and geometric forms, the piece encourages reflection on life’s simple joys and adds to Gardens by the Bay’s impressive collection of public art, including works by Yayoi Kusama, Marc Quinn, and Dale Chihuly.

Conveniently located near Bayfront MRT and accessible via Gardens by the Bay’s shuttle service, the PropNex Family Zone is set to become a vibrant hub for family bonding, inclusive play, and community celebration.
