This April, Shafeeq Shajahan, celebrated for Sepet The Musical and Melur The Musical, returns to London’s Soho Theatre with his latest production, The Bollywood Guide to Revenge. Presented by the British-Malaysian theatre company Liver & Lung, this bold new show promises a vibrant exploration of redemption, love, and identity through the glamorous lens of vintage Bollywood and pulsating disco beats.

A Dazzling Journey of Redemption
Set against an enchanting soundtrack that blends classical Indian music, Cypriot folk rhythms, jazz standards, and modern disco, the production delves into Shafeeq’s deeply personal experiences. From poignant reflections on his mother’s early life to navigating his identity as a person of color in London, Shafeeq crafts a narrative that is both cathartic and celebratory.
The show pays homage to the heroines of 1970s and 1980s Bollywood, whose resilience inspired Shafeeq’s own identity. It offers a humorous and heartfelt commentary on the pressures faced by people of color in the West, highlighting how revenge can evolve into a powerful form of self-expression.
A Star-Studded Collaboration
Joining Shafeeq on stage is acclaimed composer and pianist Vasilis Konstantinides, whose extensive achievements include award-winning compositions and performances at renowned venues like the Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre. Together, they promise a camp-filled, electrifying production that will dazzle and disrupt in equal measure.
