A Creative Playground at Gardens by the Bay

Conceptualized by H&B in collaboration with leading design and architectural firms—including ACRE Design, Arina International Holdings, DP Architects, and Kaizen Architecture—IMBA Theatre will feature:

  • Black Box Theatre – A 20,000-square-foot space with a towering 12.5-metre-high projection wall, one of Southeast Asia’s tallest, designed for immersive exhibitions, arts, culture, and lifestyle events.
  • Gallery Space – Spanning 12,500 square feet, this 6.5-metre-high area will showcase traditional and mixed media exhibitions, bringing together the best of local and global artistry.
  • Curated Retail & Dining – Unique experiential retail and dining concepts that seamlessly integrate with the immersive environment, celebrating creativity and innovation.

A Platform for Global and Local Creatives

IMBA Theatre is more than just a venue—it’s a cultural bridge, fostering artistic exchange between Singapore and the world. By partnering with London-based Lightroom, a leader in immersive storytelling, IMBA will present world-class digital experiences that captivate audiences and push the boundaries of creative expression.

A Spectacular Opening with The Botero Show

IMBA Theatre will debut with The Botero Show, an immersive showcase of paintings and drawings by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. Known for his signature exaggerated forms, Botero’s monumental sculptures have long been part of Singapore’s urban landscape. This exhibition will extend beyond the theatre’s walls, featuring indoor and outdoor installations across Gardens by the Bay.

Celebrating Singapore’s Cultural Identity

IMBA Theatre will spotlight Singapore’s rich artistic heritage, featuring:

  • The Nanyang Style – A tribute to the pioneering movement that blended Chinese and Western art techniques to depict Southeast Asian themes.
  • Yip Yew Chong’s Nostalgic Murals – A showcase of works by the renowned muralist, whose hand-painted cityscapes bring Singapore’s past to life.

Nurturing Future Creative Talent

IMBA is committed to fostering the next generation of artists and storytellers through a collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Design & Media (NYP-SDM). Together, they will develop original content that integrates education, creativity, and technology, shaping the future of immersive entertainment.

Stay tuned as Singapore’s newest cultural playground comes to life in December 2025.
