Escape to Nature: Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree Opens April 2025

Step away from the urban hustle and into a lush rainforest retreat as Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree opens its doors in April 2025. Nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Singapore’s premier integrated wildlife and nature destination, this eco-luxury resort promises a seamless blend of nature, sustainability, and hospitality.

Spanning 4.6 hectares and offering direct access to renowned attractions like the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise, and the upcoming Rainforest Wild, the resort redefines nature-inspired living just a short drive from the city.

Designed by award-winning WOW Architects, the resort embraces biophilic principles, integrating its 338-room property into the natural landscape. Mature trees were preserved during construction, and the resort’s elevated wings accommodate the movement of native wildlife.

At the entrance, guests are greeted by two iconic trees: a towering 12-meter Rain Tree, with its umbrella-shaped canopy creating a rainforest ambiance, and an Indian Beech, a nurturing tree that enriches the soil and supports diverse wildlife.

Inside, the resort continues its nature-first ethos with upcycled wood furnishings, eco-inspired lighting, and interactive storytelling by associates to immerse guests in the rich local culture.

Unique Accommodations

The resort offers two distinct accommodation experiences:

  • Tree Houses: Inspired by seed pods, these 24 elevated shelters feature private patios and a cosy atmosphere, hovering above the forest floor.
  • Resort Building: A five-storey structure housing 314 rooms and suites, designed to rise vertically through the forest layers, offering breathtaking views of the rainforest, garden, and reservoir.

The interiors celebrate the rainforest’s complexity with art depicting its various layers—forest floor, understorey, canopy, and emergent—and antique wildlife lithographs of species native to Singapore.

Sustainability at Its Core

The resort exemplifies eco-consciousness, earning Singapore’s Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy (SLE) certification. Features include:

  • Naturally ventilated rooms with fully opening windows.
  • Ambient temperatures that mimic the rainforest’s cool environment.
  • Interactive displays to monitor energy use.
  • Rainwater harvesting for room flushing systems.

Exclusive Amenities

  • Meranti Ballroom: A 300-seater venue inspired by the forest floor’s mythology, with a striking centrepiece influenced by the Bridal Veil Stinkhorn, a tropical mushroom known for its unique beauty.
