Design and Build Quality

G915 X Lightspeed (topmost): This full-sized keyboard boasts a sleek, ultra-thin profile, measuring just 22.6mm in height. The aircraft-grade aluminum alloy top plate not only adds to its durability but also gives it a premium look and feel. This has got to be the most premium-looking keyboard we have seen in a while at this price range. The low-profile GL mechanical switches contribute to its slim design, making it a stylish addition to any gaming setup.

G915 X Lightspeed TKL

G915 X Lightspeed TKL: The tenkeyless (TKL) version retains the design aesthetics of its full-sized counterpart but omits the numbers pad, resulting in a more compact form factor. This design choice caters to gamers who prefer a minimalist setup or require more desk space for mouse movements. Despite its smaller size, the build quality or features are not compromised. I am not a huge fan of TKL as I am not into professional gaming. This is specifically targeted for the gaming audience.

G915 X Wired: Similar in design to the G915 X Lightspeed, the wired version offers the same slim profile and robust build quality. The primary difference lies in its connectivity, as it relies on a wired connection, which some users may prefer for its reliability and zero latency. I am one such target user who still prefers something wired for constant assurance on performance.

Switches: All three models are equipped with Logitech’s low-profile GL mechanical switches, available in Tactile, Clicky, and Linear variants. These switches offer a shorter actuation point of 1.3mm and a total travel distance of 3.2mm, providing a responsive and satisfying typing experience. The Tactile switches offer a discernible bump, the Clicky switches provide an audible click, and the Linear switches deliver a smooth keystroke without tactile feedback.

Wireless Connectivity: The G915 X Lightspeed and G915 X Lightspeed TKL utilise Logitech’s proprietary Lightspeed wireless technology, delivering a 1ms report rate for lag-free performance. Additionally, they offer Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to switch between multiple devices seamlessly. The G915 X Wired, as the name suggests, relies on a wired USB connection, ensuring a stable and uninterrupted connection.

Battery Life: The wireless models boast impressive battery life, with the G915 X Lightspeed offering up to 36 hours of usage with RGB lighting at full brightness, and the G915 X Lightspeed TKL providing up to 42 hours under the same conditions. These figures can be extended by adjusting the lighting settings. The wired version, being constantly connected, do not require battery management.

RGB Lighting: All models feature Logitech’s Lightsync RGB technology, offering customisable per-key lighting with a spectrum of approximately 16.8 million colors. Users can personalise their lighting effects and synchronise them with other Logitech G devices using the G Hub software.

Software and Customisation

[Review] Logitech's G915 X Series: Comparing the G915 X Lightspeed, G915 X Lightspeed TKL, and G915 X Wired - Alvinology

Logitech’s G Hub software serves as the central hub for customising the G915 X series keyboards. It allows users to remap keys, create macros, and adjust lighting effects. The software’s intuitive interface makes it accessible for both novice and experienced users. Additionally, the keyboards support on-board profiles, enabling users to save their settings directly to the device for use across different systems.

You probably would not need this level of customisation for general use, but this matters for professional gamers where every split second in clicks and reactions matter. Nonetheless, it is still a good to have across all three keyboards for those who are more particular about the functions of all the keys on their keyboards for the quickest actions.

Comparison Verdict

The Logitech G915 X series offers a range of options to cater to different user preferences. The G915 X Lightspeed provides a full-sized, feature-rich experience with the convenience of wireless connectivity.

The G915 X Lightspeed TKL offers the same features in a more compact form factor, ideal for gamers seeking a minimalist setup.

The G915 X Wired delivers the same performance and build quality as its wireless counterparts, with the reliability of a wired connection at a more accessible price point.

When choosing between these models, consider your specific needs and preferences.

If you value a full-sized keyboard with wireless flexibility, the G915 X Lightspeed is an excellent choice. For those who prefer a compact design without sacrificing features, the G915 X Lightspeed TKL is ideal. If a wired connection and affordability are your priorities, the G915 X Wired offers great value.

Personally, for regular use, I would go for the Wired version for its guaranteed reliability and its slightly lower price point. For those who prefer something more premium, go for the full-sized wireless G915X Lightspeed. For hardcore gamers, the TKL version will work best.
