Canon Singapore has teamed up with the National Library Board (NLB) to launch a convenient ink and toner cartridge recycling programme aimed at promoting sustainability across Singapore. With recycling boxes now available at several NLB locations, the initiative makes it easy for the community to responsibly dispose of used cartridges.
The recycling boxes can be found at key locations, including the National Library Building and regional libraries in Jurong, Punggol, Tampines, and Woodlands. This effort aligns with Canon’s corporate philosophy of kyosei, meaning “living and working together for the common good,” and reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
By collaborating with NLB, a cornerstone of the community, Canon aims to encourage a culture of recycling and responsible resource management. The programme also supports the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which focuses on sustainable living and the nation’s vision of becoming a Zero Waste society.
Cartridges collected through the programme will be sent to recycling facilities, where the materials will be dismantled and sorted. Recyclable metals and plastics will be processed into raw materials for new products, while non-recyclable components will be converted into energy at an incineration plant.
Canon also offers recycling services for its corporate customers, collecting used cartridges during new toner deliveries. Customers can continue to drop off used cartridges at Canon Singapore’s Customer Care Centre as part of the company’s broader environmental efforts.
With plans to expand the programme to more libraries across Singapore, Canon hopes to inspire more people to take part in creating a greener future.
