Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival the SINGAPO人 Way with Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Chinese Orchestra

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Singapore’s skyline will be illuminated by an extraordinary display of giant mooncakes on the rooftop of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) at Shenton Way. This striking installation marks the beginning of the Mid-Autumn Family FUN (MAFF), a much-anticipated annual event co-organised by SCCC and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO).

Running from 6 to 8 September 2024, MAFF will transform the SCCC and Singapore Conference Hall into a vibrant celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, offering 21 family-friendly activities designed to engage visitors of all ages in the spirit of the season, the SINGAPO way.

Event Highlights

  • Giant Mooncake Installation: The rooftop installation at SCCC’s Roof Garden features mooncakes representing different dialect groups, providing an ideal backdrop for memorable photos. Visitors can also enjoy moon-gazing at night, adding a touch of celestial magic to the festivities.
  • Performances and Workshops: A mix of ticketed and free stage performances will keep attendees entertained, with moon-themed tunes for everyone to sing along to. Families can participate in a variety of workshops, including lantern walks, mooncake tasting, and tea appreciation sessions.
  • The Moon Mission: This theatrical production reimagines beloved folklore characters like Chang’e, offering a fresh and exciting take on traditional tales.
  • Grandpa’s Grandpa: Stories of our Ancestral Heritage: An educational workshop where families can delve into their lineage and learn more about their ancestral roots.
  • Hits of Classics: Ancient Moon, Present Light: A concert collaboration between SCCC, SCO, and Lianhe Zaobao, featuring musical pieces that celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
  • The World of Guzheng: A Parent-Child Workshop: A unique session that invites parents and children to bond over the beautiful melodies of the guzheng, a traditional Chinese musical instrument.

Visitors attending on 7 and 8 September 2024 can look forward to a range of freebies (while stocks last):

  • Free Mooncake Sponges: Available from 1 pm to 7 pm.
  • Old Chang Kee Snacks: Complete a survey between 1 pm and 7 pm to redeem a snack of your choice.
