Samsung Launches 1TB microSD Cards in Singapore with Enhanced Performance and Capacity

Samsung Electronics Singapore has announced the release of its 1 terabyte (TB) high-capacity PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards. Leveraging eight layers of Samsung’s eighth-generation V-NAND (V8) technology within a microSD form factor, these new memory cards offer greater capacity and improved performance for content creators and tech enthusiasts who require large storage capacities and quick file transfers across their devices.

Higher Storage Capacity with Enhanced Performance

The new PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards provide users with higher storage options. With 1TB of capacity, users can store more than 400,000 images in 4K UHD resolution (2.3 megabytes (MB) per image) or over 45 console games (20 gigabytes (GB) per game) on a single card.

  • PRO Plus: Features sequential read speeds of up to 180MB/s and write speeds of up to 130MB/s. It also boasts UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) and Video Speed Class 30 (V30) for 4K UHD Video with A2 App Performance, allowing users to focus more on content creation without worrying about storage and organization.
  • EVO Plus: Offers transfer speeds of up to 160MB/s with UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) and Video Speed Class 30 (V30) for 4K UHD video with A2 App Performance, providing seamless file loading and multitasking capabilities.

The PRO Plus and EVO Plus are available in storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, with the EVO Plus also offering a 64GB option featuring UHS Speed Class 1 (U1), Video Speed Class 10 (V10), and A1 App Performance.

Maximizing Power Efficiency and Reliability

Designed for power efficiency, Samsung’s PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards feature controllers based on 28-nanometer (nm) process technology, enhancing device battery life. The Error Correction Code (ECC)’s Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code 2-kilobyte (KB) engine offers enhanced reliability over more write-and-erase cycles, ensuring safer data storage over extended periods.

Proven Durability for Reliable Storage

Both the PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards have undergone extensive testing under harsh conditions, achieving high-reliability ratings in six key areas. These cards can withstand water, high temperatures, X-rays, magnetic fields, drops, and wear-out, making them ideal for content creators who work in challenging environments.

Compatibility Across Devices

The PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards are compatible with a variety of devices, including Android smartphones, tablets, and handheld gaming consoles. They are also suitable for use in action cameras or drones and come with a 10-year limited warranty.

Availability and Pricing

The 1TB PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards will be available in Singapore from August 7, 2024, via the Samsung Online Store, and the Samsung Official Store on Lazada and Shopee. The recommended retail price for the 1TB EVO Plus microSD card (MB-MC1T0SA/APC) is S$179, while the 1TB PRO Plus microSD card (MB-MD1T0SA/APC) retails at S$199.
