Marina Bay Sands is celebrating a decade of giving with its signature event, the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival.
This August, the festival will commemorate its 10th anniversary with 10 weeks of community engagement activities, culminating in a three-day festival from August 23 to 25, 2024, at Event Plaza.
Themed “Where Hearts Come Together,” the festival will feature a social marketplace for charity, performances by local artists, and a new plastic waste upcycling initiative.
Kicking off on August 16, the ice-cream pop-up Scoops of Hope returns for 10 days, offering 10 unique flavors crafted by Marina Bay Sands’ pastry team and celebrity chef restaurants like Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Maison Boulud, and Waku Ghin. Proceeds will go to Metta Café, supporting vocational training for Metta School graduates with mild intellectual disabilities.
The festival will see Event Plaza transform into a vibrant Giving Marketplace where non-profits, social enterprises, and small businesses sell handcrafted items and baked goods to support charitable causes. A new community engagement initiative, Heartwork: Upcycling for Good, invites the public to upcycle plastic waste into functional products like coasters and keychains.
The festival will feature nightly performances by homegrown talents Glenn Yong, Ben Hum, and shazza, along with other local artists and groups. The opening act will be performed by Redeafination, a dance crew for the deaf, showcasing a new dance sequence.
Since June 17, Marina Bay Sands’ team members have been participating in community engagement activities, including a toy drive for children with cancer and a partnership with AWWA to improve transitional housing for displaced families. Nearly 3,000 team members are expected to volunteer across 20 events during the 10 weeks leading up to the main festival.
Throughout the festival, gourmet treats and beverages from Marina Bay Sands’ signature restaurants will be available, with proceeds going to the AWWA Transitional Shelter program. Highlights include exclusive dishes like Black Tap’s Rendang Beef Chilli Hotdog and Yardbird’s Nasi Lemak Sandwich, alongside classic favorites.
In conjunction with the festival, Marina Bay Sands continues to support other community engagement events such as the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk and Vertical Marathon on August 24. The resort is also a sponsor of the CPAS Charity Dinner on August 2 and the 9th Singapore Humanitarian Conference organized by Singapore Red Cross on August 3.
Since its inception in 2013, the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival has raised over S$35 million for more than 180 charity partners, becoming a cornerstone of Marina Bay Sands’ corporate social responsibility program, Sands Cares. Join the festivities from August 23 to 25 at Event Plaza and be a part of this heartwarming celebration of giving.
