Barbecue buffet extravaganza at Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie from just $28+/pax

Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie is a mini urban oasis nestled within Momentus Hotel Alexandra which serves up a myriad of roasts and fresh bakes. With outdoor seating overlooking the pool and the skyline of Duxton, it is a feast for your tummy and your eyes.

Till 31 July, Verandah will be offering an exclusive buffet line, featuring a Blue Smoke Four Hands collaboration. The new menu promises an indulgent culinary feast, highlighted by special Blue Smoke dishes like Grilled Tamarind Barramundi and 22 Hour Smoked Wagyu Beef Brisket. Their melange of asian flavours and western culinary techniques makes for a gastronomic experience. From lunch to dinner options, you’ll undoubtedly be spoilt for choice here.

Weekend Buffet dinner (inclusive of tasting menu)

If you’re intending to splurge with your family or friends, try their Weekend Buffet Dinner! Available from Fridays to Sundays, 6pm to 10pm. It is on the pricier side, however the quality and quality justify the cost.

$98+ for adults and $48+ for kids (aged 6 to 11) and kids under 5 get to enjoy complimentary pasta and pizza. You can also opt for free flow house wines and prosecco for a total of $148+. To add on to the festivities, 1 dines for free for every 3 paying adults!

Still not convinced? For every paying adult, the dinner buffet includes a Five-dish Tasting Menu fit for royalty. From the land to the sea, you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of proteins. I really loved the concept of having the tasting menu woven into the buffet. Not only do you get the freedom to choose your dishes but also a couple special delights. Something about the balance makes it truly worth the money spent.

Opening the tasting menu is one of my personal favourites, the Hokkaido Scallop Tataki. Scallops are not offered in the buffet which makes this dish feel all the more exclusive! Topped with caviar, the juicy scallops are accompanied by cold somen tossed in an umami seaweed dressing. Being a more japanese-inspired dish, it is definitely one of my favourites as it showcases the versatility of the culinary techniques here.

Thai food lovers can look forward to the Green Lip Mussels. They are paired with an herby and mildly spicy green curry. The hint of coconut fragrance really shines through with the coconut foam, harmonising with the sweetness of the mussels. It is one of the Blue Smoke creations on the menu, and needless to say, the depth and complexity of flavours was lovely.

Another one of my favourites, the Cod Fish. It works with various Japanese influences like burnt miso leek and yuzu beurre blanc paired with the richness of the cod. The cod was essentially drenched in its own natural oils, making it extremely tender. I found it truly addictive and would definitely come back just for this.

Featuring another Blue Smoke creation, the 22 hour Smoked Wagyu Beef Brisket is a one bite wonder! A crispy pie tee cup literally loaded full of tender beef, what’s not to love? Complemented by baby herbs, the sharp notes balances out the hint of gaminess that still remains.

Ending off the tasting menu is the Iberico Pork Secreto. This beautifully marinated piece of meat held the fragrance of lemongrass. The strong herbaceous notes made it oddly refreshing, the perfect way to end the menu. It is reminiscent of those Thai pork dishes which many adore, definitely a must try!

After the extremely fulfilling tasting menu, don’t forget to save space for the buffet too! From the Cold Larder to the Live Action Kitchen, the choices seem almost limitless. Highlights from Blue Smoke are the Smoked Garam Masala Beef Tomahawk and Charred Napa Cabbage with Smoked Garlic Aioli.

From the Blue Smoke signatures, I found the Grilled Tamarind Barramundi a really light and refreshing option. The sweet tartness of the tamarind married with such a succulent, meaty fish made for a flawless execution. I always found barramundi to be a great pairing with sweet and sour notes so this certainly has to be my favourite.

As someone who is not too fond of lamb due to its stronger gamey taste, I actually really adored the Grilled Australian Lamb Shoulder. It is another Blue Smoke dish which I liked because it was so well marinated that I could enjoy the lamb without even a hint of gaminess. However, if you are not a fan of tougher cuts of meat, you might have to choose more tender pieces as there was a range of tenderness for different chunks.

Seafood lovers can find themselves drooling over the cold larder. They offer oysters, prawns and even cured salmon! Need I say more? This was my favourite section to visit because the sauces offered had me licking my fingers clean!

Semi-buffet Lunch

Prefer something more affordable yet indulgent? Look no further as the Semi-buffet Lunch ($28+) is the perfect choice. Available from 12pm to 2.30pm daily, you’ll be able to enjoy your main course with a free flow of appetisers, hot snacks and delectable desserts.

They have 6 mains to choose from, with vegetarian options too! If you’re in the mood for the pizza option, better yet, as you’ll be able to choose from 3 different varieties. I would suggest trying the Seafood Sakura Ebi (not in the picture). The prawns were really fresh and instead of tomato paste, it had something that tasted like mentaiko! The Chicken Gochujang though was a delight as well, sweet and spicy chicken with cheese is always satiating. If you’re looking for a more classic option, the tender Pulled Pork would not let you down!

The main course selection also features 2 Blue Smoke highlights to enjoy. The Smoked Lamb Shoulder Stew and the Grilled Sambal Fish Steak, though note that the fish you get, would depend on the catch of the day.

Let’s not forget desserts! Cempedak Crème Brûlée was my preferred choice due to my love for crème brûlée. It comes in small portions too, so even if you’re feeling a little full, there’s certainly room for dessert anyways!

Overall, I loved how the buffet was a uniquely interactive experience, especially with the live action kitchen. The roasts being flamed right in front of you truly adds a little flair and enhances the overall experience of the buffet. Plus, the views outside the restaurant really tie it altogether as well, elevating the whole dining experience. For more information on Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie, visit their website here.
