Income Insurance has unveiled a significant new sponsorship initiative, committing S$100,000 annually for the next five years to support the Singapore Athletic Association (SAA). This initiative, the Income Insurance Athletics Development Fund (IIADF), aims to nurture athletic talent in preparation for the SEA Games 2029.
Building on their existing partnership, which includes cash sponsorship and insurance coverage for over 120 athletes and staff, Income Insurance’s latest commitment aims to elevate Singapore’s athletics scene. The IIADF will provide enhanced support through insurance coverage and cash sponsorship, funding overseas training and competitions.
The bulk of the IIADF will be directed towards young athletes, allowing them to enhance their skills through exposure to international training programs and facilities. This international experience is expected to significantly improve their performance and competitiveness at elite competitions.
This sponsorship is the largest in SAA’s history and will primarily benefit the athletes in the National Development Squad, who are seen as potential qualifiers for major competitions like the SEA Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics. The fund will also support youth and junior athletes aiming for SEA Youth or Asian age-group competitions.
The IIADF will help SAA achieve its goal of having at least two athletes in each athletics event at the SEA Games 2029. This includes preparing a total of 70 to 80 athletes across running, throwing, and jumping disciplines, thereby enhancing the overall skills of Singapore’s national athletes.
