Jetstar Asia‘s inaugural flight from Singapore to Broome, Western Australia, took yesterday morning, marking the beginning of seasonal flights to one of Australia’s most unique destinations with a population of just 15,000.
This new service positions Jetstar Asia as the only airline operating international flights into regional Western Australia and establishes the first regular scheduled services between Singapore and Broome.
The twice-weekly return services, operated by an Airbus A320 during the dry season, will provide nearly 13,000 low-fare seats annually between Singapore and Broome.
The seasonal service is set to recommence in April 2025.
For Singaporean travelers, Broome serves as the gateway to the Kimberley region, renowned for its stunning natural beauty, including Cable Beach’s white sands, Gantheaume Point’s dinosaur footprints, and whale watching in the Indian Ocean.
The new route also offers residents of Australia’s North West direct access to Singapore, enhancing international travel opportunities through Jetstar Asia’s network and partner airlines at Changi Airport.
Jetstar Asia COO Geoffrey Lui expressed excitement about adding Broome to Jetstar Asia’s expanding network, catering to the rising demand for unique travel experiences. “We know our customers love to explore, and with our low fares, they can now add Broome to their list of must-visit destinations,” said Mr. Lui as he emphasised the airline’s commitment to making international travel more accessible and affordable.
“This Singapore to Broome service presents an incredible opportunity to boost international visitor numbers to our North West and significantly benefit the region’s tourism businesses,” added Acting Tourism Minister of Western Australia, John Carey, highlighting the significance of this flight launch in expanding the state’s aviation capacity.
Broome International Airport CEO Craig Shaw noted the potential for tourism and trade opportunities, enhancing the liveability of the North West by providing residents with affordable access to the rest of the world. “Broome International Airport is proud to play a role in stimulating positive economic growth for the Kimberley,” shared Mr. Shaw.
Changi Airport Group’s Vice President for Market Development, Peh Ke-Wei, expressed delight at Changi Airport being chosen as Broome’s first international connection, further strengthening the connectivity between Singapore and Australia.
