This June, Pink Fest 2024 is back, bigger and bolder, embodying a #ForwardandFearless spirit. As Singapore’s largest inclusive-driven festival, Pink Fest celebrates diversity and inclusivity throughout Global Pride Month with a series of exciting events, thought-provoking discussions, and electrifying parties. Since its inception in 2018, Pink Fest has been a beacon for promoting and organizing activities that support LGBTQ+ communities, allies, and anyone committed to building a more inclusive society.
Signature and New Events
Expanding on its signature events – Inclusive Careers Fair, Pasar Pink, and Pink Screen – Pink Fest introduces Fashion For All (FFA), an inclusive fashion festival. This groundbreaking event, presented in partnership with the Singapore Fashion Council at Design Orchard, will feature collections from 20 designers, including veterans and emerging labels. These collections are designed for all gender identities, body types, ages, and abilities. The inaugural FFA show on June 1 will feature a mix of professional models and individuals selected from an open casting call, showcasing true inclusivity in fashion.
Inclusive Careers Fair
Returning to WeWork at 21 Collyer Quay on June 22, the Inclusive Careers Fair will see participation from over 30 companies, including Dyson, Expedia, Nomura, Standard Chartered, Wells Fargo, Canon, Google, Oracle, PropertyGuru, and PublicisGroupe. The fair aims to connect employers with diverse talent, including LGBTQ+, differently-abled, neurodivergent individuals, racial/ethnic minorities, women, and other underrepresented groups. Attendees can look forward to engaging panels, workshops, exhibitor booths, mentoring opportunities, and a professional photography studio.
Pasar Pink and Proud Pet Parade
Pasar Pink, co-organized with Sunday Social, will return to the Museum of Ice Cream on June 9. This event features a vibrant array of F&B and lifestyle brands and introduces the Proud Pet Parade, where pet owners can participate in a pet/owner look-alike contest with their furry companions for a chance to win attractive prizes.
Pink Screen
Organized by The Projector, Pink Screen will open with the legendary classic “Bugis Street (1995)” (rated R21), a film that captures the vibrant and dynamic backdrop of a bygone Singaporean era. The film lineup also includes Ethan Coen’s road comedy “Drive-Away Dolls (2024),” the romantic comedy “Love is Strange (2014),” and the award-winning Korean drama “Peafowl (2022).” Additionally, a fundraiser screening of “Drive-Away Dolls” will support the community-based LGBTQIA+ organization Oogachaga.
Theatre and Community Events
For theatre enthusiasts, Wild Rice presents “trans:mission,” a powerful production written by Alfian Sa’at and performed entirely by trans individuals. This groundbreaking piece explores themes of transphobia, dysphoria, and utopia through structured dialogues, amplifying the authentic voices and stories of trans people. Pink Fest will also host an Open House event for Proud Spaces, Singapore’s first LGBTQ+ community center, offering an opportunity to meet and connect with various queer community support groups.
