Gardens by the Bay’s beloved floral display, Tulipmania (梦幻郁金香), marks its monumental 10th edition, becoming the first floral showcase at the Gardens to achieve such a milestone. Since its inception in 2013, just a year after the grand opening of Gardens by the Bay, Tulipmania has consistently captivated visitors, ranking among the top three floral displays alongside the cherry blossom spectacle Sakura and the festive favorite Poinsettia Wishes.
Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development, Sim Ann, alongside Her Excellency Anneke Adema, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Singapore, officially launched this year’s Tulipmania. Presented in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Tulipmania will enchant visitors until May 26th.
While Gardens by the Bay continuously refreshes its floral offerings, Tulipmania has entrenched itself as a perennial favorite. This year, the display pays homage to its inaugural show with a design reminiscent of traditional Dutch tulip fields, featuring uniform rows of tulips in singular colors.
Throughout its illustrious history, Tulipmania has transformed, showcasing diverse themes ranging from recreations of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings to tributes to the tulip’s origins in Kazakhstan and Türkiye. This year, the display returns to its Dutch roots, celebrating the country’s rich tulip heritage. Moreover, for the first time, modern Dutch innovations, including wind turbines and vertical farming, are showcased alongside traditional elements.
At the heart of Tulipmania are the tulips themselves, with over 54,000 bulbs of more than 20 varieties set to dazzle visitors. Among the highlights are four new varieties:
Accompanying the tulips are double-petaled daffodils sourced from the Netherlands, adding a touch of lushness to the display.
Amidst quintessential Dutch icons like windmills and farmhouses, Tulipmania showcases models of wind turbines and examples of urban farming technology, reflecting the Netherlands’ evolution towards sustainability. Visitors can also admire a full set of 104 Delft Blue miniature houses from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, symbolizing Dutch culture and heritage.
In celebration of Tulipmania’s milestone, visitors have the chance to win economy-class round-trip air tickets sponsored by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Additionally, a Mother’s Day social media contest offers participants the opportunity to gift their mother a European getaway. Plus, to spread the joy of Tulipmania, complimentary cut tulips will be given away in Flower Dome over the weekend of May 4th and 5th.
Visit Tulipmania at the Flower Dome from now until May 26th, 9 am to 9 pm. Admission charges apply.
