Vietjet commemorates its 10th anniversary of operations in China (2014 – 2024) with the announcement of a new direct route connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Xi’an City. The celebratory event coincided with the China-Vietnam Trade and Investment Cooperation Promotion Forum, garnering attention from high-ranking dignitaries of both nations.
Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, and other esteemed officials extended their congratulations to Vietjet on this achievement while warmly welcoming the introduction of the new service during their official visit to China.
Since its inaugural flight to China in 2014, Vietjet has facilitated travel for over 12 million passengers across numerous routes, effectively linking Vietnam’s key political, economic, cultural, and tourist hubs with nearly 50 popular destinations across China. This robust air connectivity has played a pivotal role in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Vietnam.
During the celebratory event, Vietjet unveiled plans for the new direct route between Ho Chi Minh City and Xi’an, slated to commence operations from the upcoming summer season. With four weekly round-trip flights offering a flight time of just over four hours per leg, this service is poised to meet the increasing demand for seamless travel and cultural exchange between the two cities. Moreover, the establishment of this air link is expected to bolster trade ties between Ho Chi Minh City and China’s Northwest region, underscoring Vietjet’s steadfast commitment to expanding its presence in the Chinese market.
Xi’an, situated in Shaanxi Province, holds a distinguished status as one of China’s ancient capitals, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and world-class historical sites. Additionally, Xi’an serves as a key destination for foreign direct investment in Western China, driving significant economic activity. Notably, the city holds historical significance as the birthplace of the legendary Silk Road.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City, with its nearly 10 million inhabitants, stands as a vibrant economic, cultural, and tourist hub within Vietnam. Boasting a unique blend of cultural offerings, the city provides visitors with an immersive experience. Furthermore, Ho Chi Minh City benefits from convenient connectivity to various domestic and international destinations.
In recent developments, Vietjet has also introduced direct routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai and Chengdu in China, with daily return flights facilitating both leisure and business travel, thereby enhancing travel flows and trade between the cities.
Passengers flying with Vietjet can expect modern aircraft and impeccable service from professional and friendly cabin crews. The inflight menu features a delectable array of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, including Banh Mi and pho Thin, alongside a selection of hot, nutritious, and delicious global dishes.
The new Ho Chi Minh City-Xi’an route not only directly connects the two cities but also contributes to the expansion of Vietjet’s flight network spanning Vietnam, Australia, India, and other destinations in Southeast and Northeast Asia. This integration fosters greater opportunities for cultural exchange, education, bilateral trade, and tourism, thereby fueling the development and prosperity of both nations.
