OPPO Pad Neo: A Balanced, Under S$400 Budget Tablet for Your Everyday Use

OPPO recently unveiled its latest mid-range offering, the OPPO Pad Neo, promising an immersive entertainment experience coupled with comfort and connectivity. Now available in Singapore, this tablet is available in both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE 8GB+128G variants, catering to diverse user needs at wallet-friendly price points starting from just S$369.

The price point is really attractive as an entry-level, mid-range tablet for daily use that kids and seniors can use to read the news, watch videos and other casual web browsing on a larger screen than their mobile phones.

Screen and Display

At the heart of the OPPO Pad Neo lies its standout feature, an industry-first 11.4-inch, 2.4K ReadFit screen boasting a 7:5 aspect ratio. Compared to conventional 5:3 tablet displays with similar diagonal screen lengths, the OPPO Pad Neo offers nearly 7% more screen area.

This generous display size offers enhanced comfort and versatility, presenting a larger viewing area compared to conventional tablet displays.

With added impressive specs including 2408 x 1720 resolution, 96% NTSC color gamut, and 400 nits peak brightness, the Pad Neo delivers crisp visuals and vibrant colours.

The screen is also the first to receive the Circadian Friendly and Full Care Display 2.0 certifications from TÜV Rheinland, in recognition of its all-encompassing, eye-friendly experience that goes beyond industry standards.

We think it is smart of OPPO to focus on the screen and display for the OPPO Pad Neo, ensuring it stands out from equivalent competitor models as it would be harder to compete on other technical specifications for an essentially basic model.

Cross-Device Connectivity

The Pad Neo seamlessly integrates with other devices, facilitating effortless multitasking and content sharing. Our only minor complain here is the lack of an audio jack, but this should not be a major issue as most audio devices come with wireless features these days.

Features like Communication Sharing and Content Sync streamline connectivity, while App Relay ensures a smooth transition between tasks across devices. Screen mirroring further enhances user experience, offering expanded possibilities for app usage.

Performance and Design

Powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and boasting dual 8MP cameras, the Pad Neo offers reliable performance for everyday tasks. The front and rear cameras are of acceptable quality, not that a tablet will be used much for photography.

Battery Life and Audio

With an 8,000mAh battery and 33W SUPERVOOC charger, the Pad Neo ensures all-day usage and quick recharging.

The audio experience is elevated with Dolby Atmos and quad-speakers. This is good enough for everyday usage like watching movies, playing causal games or enjoying music.

Verdict

The OPPO Pad Neo presents a balanced package, combining immersive entertainment, seamless connectivity, and user-friendly features. While it may not excel in every aspect, its very competitive pricing and respectable performance make it a worthwhile consideration for consumers seeking a mid-range tablet for media consumption and everyday use.
