Nothing Launches Smartphone Co-Creation Initiative: The Community Edition Project

Nothing, the London-based technology company, has unveiled an innovative co-creation initiative called The Community Edition Project, marking a new milestone in collaborative product development. This groundbreaking project invites community members to participate in designing, packaging, customizing, and ultimately launching a new variant of their Phone (2a).

Since its inception, Nothing has prioritized community engagement, and The Community Edition Project is a testament to this commitment. By harnessing the creativity of its most passionate followers, Nothing aims to create a truly unique and community-driven smartphone experience.

A Four-Stage Journey

Over the course of six months, The Community Edition Project will unfold in four distinct stages, each focusing on different aspects of the phone’s development:

Stage 1 – March: Hardware Design

Community members are invited to put their own spin on the iconic hardware design of the Phone (2a). The winning design will be brought to life in collaboration with Nothing’s London-based industrial design team.

Stage 2 – May: Wallpaper Design

Participants will design a series of wallpapers that seamlessly complement the chosen hardware design. The winning collection will come pre-installed on the Phone (2a) Community Edition.

Stage 3 – June: Packaging Design

This stage challenges participants to think outside the box and craft a special unboxing experience that aligns with the hardware and wallpaper designs from the previous stages.

Stage 4 – July: Marketing Campaign

Community members will develop creative proposals for the marketing of the Phone (2a) Community Edition. With guidance from Nothing’s Brand & Creative team, winning entries will contribute to the visual identity and promotional assets for the product.

How to Participate

Community members can choose to participate in any category that aligns with their skills and interests. Submissions, which may include images, videos, and other supporting media, will be accepted during each stage’s designated entry period. Nothing will provide detailed briefs, rules, guidelines, and tips to support participants in crafting successful entries.

The Selection Process and Beyond

After the entry period concludes, the community will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite submissions. An internal panel of experts from Nothing will then evaluate all valid entries and select a winner for each category. The four category winners will be invited to join the Nothing Team in London for the official launch event of the Phone (2a) Community Edition, where all winning ideas will come together in one device.

Join the Journey

The Community Edition Project represents a unique opportunity for community members to leave their mark on the future of smartphone design and innovation. Whether you’re a budding designer, marketer, or simply a smartphone enthusiast, there’s a place for you in this groundbreaking initiative.
