In a thrilling fusion of avant-garde fashion and visionary design, Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela are set to launch their latest eyewear collaboration. This dynamic partnership unveils a collection of 17 meticulously crafted designs that redefine conventional eyewear aesthetics.
The collaboration, a testament to the shared ethos of experimentation and craftsmanship between Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela, introduces daring temple-less designs, luxurious leather-wrapped frames, and the iconic four white stitches emblematic of Maison Margiela’s distinctive style.
Photographed by the talented Jordan Hemingway, the campaign transports viewers into a hyper-realistic dreamscape, drawing inspiration from the timeless narrative of Maison Margiela’s Co-Ed Spring-Summer 2024 Collection, which is rooted in a transatlantic voyage.
Delving into the concept of futurism through the lens of craftsmanship, the collection offers ten sunglass and seven spectacle designs, each echoing the overarching theme. These frames, crafted from high-quality acetate, come in a range of signature colorways, including classic black, crisp white, and elegant tortoiseshell, as well as leather-framed editions in sophisticated hues like ivory and khaki.
At the helm of this visionary collection is Creative Director John Galliano, whose futuristic yet organic design language is epitomized by standout pieces like the voluminous, metallic MM101 and MM102, which seamlessly contour the eyes and nose. The temple-less designs, exclusively presented in silver Glam Slam eyewear cases, exude a bold elegance that pushes the boundaries of conventional eyewear.
Scheduled for launch on March 7th, the collaboration’s second installment will be accompanied by five immersive activation spaces worldwide. These avant-garde pop-ups, set in futuristic environments, serve as a vibrant celebration of the synergies between Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela. Through captivating performances featuring a fusion of robotic and human elements, these spaces blur the lines between art and fashion, inviting audiences to experience the emotive essence of the collaboration firsthand.
