Local Landmarks Illuminate for Rare Diseases Awareness Campaign

Join hands with the Rare Disease Fund (RDF) as iconic landmarks across Singapore light up in solidarity with individuals battling rare diseases. Spearheaded by Rare Voices Australia, the #LightUpforRare initiative aims to shed light on the challenges faced by millions affected by rare diseases worldwide.

A Global Illumination Effort

From the majestic Gardens by the Bay to the iconic Singapore Flyer, prominent landmarks across the globe will be bathed in hues of blue and purple, the colors symbolizing Rare Disease Day. In Singapore, RDF has partnered with eight organizations to orchestrate an island-wide light-up event, aiming to raise awareness and support for those grappling with rare diseases.

Shining a Light on Rare Diseases

While rare diseases may affect a small percentage of the population, their impact is profound, touching the lives of approximately 2,000 individuals in our local community, including 700 children. Managed by the KKH Health Fund under KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and supported by the Ministry of Health, RDF stands as a beacon of hope for those navigating the complexities of rare diseases.

Mark Your Calendars

Rare Disease Day falls on its actual date of 29 February this leap year, presenting a unique opportunity to amplify awareness on the rarest day of the year. Capture the illuminated landmarks during the light-up event and share your photos on social media using the hashtag #RaiseforRare and tagging @rarediseasefundsingapore.
