Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay is all set to bid farewell to 2023 and welcome the New Year with a bang. The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2024 promises a spectacular array of programs and activities, transforming the bay into a hub of joy and excitement for everyone to revel in.
In collaboration with The Majurity Trust, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2024 introduces “Brightening Lives,” a mesmerizing series of light projection shows on three iconic landmarks – The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, the Merlion, and the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. From 26 to 31 December, visitors can witness 21 original artworks created by students from esteemed local institutions like LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, and Republic Polytechnic.
These poignant projections tell stories of hope, empowerment, and community resilience, addressing social issues such as mental health, elderly care, and the often-overlooked tales of migrant workers. The light shows, occurring every 15 minutes from 8 pm to 10:30 pm (26-30 December) and from 8 pm to 11 pm on New Year’s Eve, promise to captivate hearts and inspire reflection.
Fireworks, Attractions, and Performances Galore
As part of the festivities, Marina Bay will come alive with a variety of activities throughout December and January. The highly anticipated New Year’s Eve countdown fireworks will illuminate the bay from a central location, offering a more immersive experience for spectators. Specially choreographed across three chapters (11:10 pm, 11:35 pm, and the grand finale at 12 am), the fireworks will narrate a tale of reflection and new beginnings.
Thrill-seekers can head to Ice Magic: Winter Wonderland at the Bayfront Event Space, a snow-and-ice-themed playground offering a plethora of rides and activities until 21 January 2024.
Adrenaline junkies can rev up at the TurboCharged arena with heart-pounding go-kart races against the stunning Marina Bay skyline until 31 December 2023.
Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay will host “Come Together,” a series of free performances by up-and-coming musicians until 31 December 2023.
New Year’s Eve will witness Mediacorp’s Let’s Celebrate 2024 countdown show with electrifying performances, a live DJ segment, food, beverages, and carnival games.
Celebrating Safely
Ensuring public safety remains a top priority, there will be regulations on the number of people entering and leaving key areas around the Bay on New Year’s Eve. Road closures and possible MRT station exit diversions are expected, with the public advised to follow instructions from authorities. Engaging in activities compromising safety, including flying unmanned aircraft and cycling in the congested area, is strongly discouraged.
