Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2023: Record Turnout Despite Challenges

Challenges Met with Strong Demand

Despite the closure of the Bay Grandstand, a necessary part of the planned redevelopment of The Float at Marina Bay, this year’s event saw a reduced attendance compared to 2022’s record-breaking capacity. However, race organizers rose to the challenge by introducing six new grandstands and additional walkabout tickets to make up for the loss of capacity. Their efforts paid off, with all these seats being fully occupied, highlighting the immense demand for this thrilling event.

The actual turnout for the 2023 Grand Prix exceeded the previously anticipated attendance of 250,000 over the three action-packed days.

Racing Action and Musical Extravaganza

Over the past two days, Formula 1 enthusiasts witnessed heart-pounding action on the track, culminating in a thrilling Qualifying session that saw Carlos Sainz of Ferrari securing pole position. Sainz outpaced Mercedes driver George Russell and his own teammate Charles Leclerc, setting the stage for a potentially historic race.

Aside from the racing excitement, the Padang stage concerts brought tens of thousands of fans together. Headlined by artists like Post Malone and Kings of Leon, along with a spectacular lineup presented by 88rising featuring Jackson Wang, Niki, and Rich Brian, these performances added to the festival-like atmosphere of the event.

Racegoers can still look forward to another unforgettable night of live music tonight, featuring performances by Robbie Williams and Groove Armada at the Zone 4 Padang stage, as well as Kings of Leon and Madness at the Zone 1 Wharf Stage.

Demand Remains Strong for 2024

In a promising sign for the future, Super Early Bird tickets for the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix have already sold out within just 72 hours of going on sale. For those who missed out, selected tickets will be available at Early Bird prices starting from 26 September via the official website.
