Tips to Slow Down Signs of Aging 

Aging is an inevitable part of life. One of the first places that we show signs of aging is in the skin such as thinning, wrinkles and a slower healing process. While we can’t reverse aging, what we can do is slow down the physical signs. Exercising, maintaining a good diet and taking supplements are some of the ways we can do so. Here is a list of tips to slow down the signs of aging. 

Eat a Healthy Diet 

First, eating a well-balanced diet can help you reduce signs of aging. As you get older, putting down the sugary snacks and fast food may keep the wrinkles at bay. Your diet should include: 

  • Leafy greens
  • Fresh fruits
  • Whole grains
  • Low-fat dairy
  • Lean proteins 

Stay Physically Active

It should be no surprise that getting plenty of exercise can slow down the signs of aging. You don’t need to hit the gym for hours everyday, but a good rule of thumb is to get 20 minutes of exercise a day. It’s suggested that endurance training and cardio are the best ways, such as:

  • Do not have electronic devices in the room 
  • Go to bed at the same time every night 
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol

Keep Stress Levels Down

Let’s face it, we all deal with stress sometimes. Chronic stress can lead to serious health issues along with early signs of aging. It’s important to keep stress levels down to maintain your health. Take time for yourself and relax. Try to manage stress by meditating, breathing exercises or yoga. 

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is essential for your overall health and your skin. Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin moisturized to maintain elasticity. This is important to avoid early wrinkles in your skin. If you drink plenty of water, your skin may also heal faster from injuries and you may have less scarring.

Wear Sunscreen

We cannot stress enough the importance of wearing SPF everyday to keep your skin looking young and supple. Whether you’re spending the day at the beach, or eating out on a patio you should be putting sunscreen on every single day. 

The good news is that many skincare products now contain SPF, so you won’t have to worry about using a second product. Long sleeved shirts, floppy hats and other items can also protect your skin from the sun. 

Take Anti-Aging Supplements 

Along with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, supplements may slow down the aging process. One of the best supplements for anti-aging is nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) due to its ability to improve NAD levels. 

NMN supplements may slow down cellular aging, which can slow down the physical signs of aging, as well. Keep in mind that in order for these supplements to have effect, you should also be eating healthy and exercising.
