Homegrown artisanal Patisserie RÓA (pronounced as “row-uh” and translates as ‘to calm’ in Icelandic) was founded in Singapore three years ago to delight chocolate lovers with decadent chocolate cakes and cookies that are made without the use of dairy, gluten, nuts, soy and eggs.
It is Chef-Owner Jane Tan’s love for her goddaughter Emma that sparked RÓA’s inception and still drives the mission today.
Emma was allergic to eggs, gluten and dairy from a very young age. This made special occasions like birthdays extra challenging due to the need to search for an allergen-friendly cake. Inspiration from Jane’s trip to New York and Dallas – where she amassed more knowledge on quality organic and vegan ingredients – was what sparked her to get started on this allergen- friendly, artisanal baking journey.
After nine months of R&D, the Midnight Cake was successfully created – a beautiful and delicious cake that her goddaughter, Emma could enjoy. Chef-Owner Jane also believes that revolutionising the simple, honest chocolate cake using vegan and sustainable ingredients can both promote healthy living and a better environment.
This Mother’s Day, a limited-time Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cake has been introduced – with five layers in one. Clothed in vibrant hues of raspberry-pink, the square-shaped cake boasts an unusual geometric exterior with debossed stylish lines for you to cut it the way you fancy.
The Raspberry Chocolate Mousse consists of five different layers – Vanilla raspberry (base layer), Ganache (second layer from base), Cake Sponge (third or middle layer), Compote (fourth from base) and Mousse (top layer).
Handcrafted using avocados and not butter, brown rice milk, and psyllium husk, like all the other RÓA cakes and cupcakes, the cake is also light on calories, making it perfect for the health and weight conscious.
To add a touch of class in the presentation, the cake comes delivered with a repurposable drawer, complete with a matte gold knob.
The 6″ Raspberry Mousse Chocolate Cake serves 4-6 pax (dessert portions) or 8-10 pax (coffee portions), depending on how you portion the cake.
