It’s February, and you know what that means – it’s the month of love! Valentine’s Day is on February 14, and it’s a day where you celebrate your relationships – not just romantic ones, mind you, but your friendships and familial ones as well.
Also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, it first originated as a Christian feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. As a result of later folk traditions, Valentine’s Day has evolved into a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love across much of the world.
In modern times, it usually means couples take each other out to fancy, romantic dinners and snap plenty of pictures to commemorate the occasion and create precious memories of their time together. Naturally, you’ll want to dress your best, and pick the best spots for your Instagram feed. Here are some of the locations we tried for our couple #OOTD shots.
Although a lot of people visit Haji Lane to shop at indie stores and enjoy coffee at aesthetic cafes, it is also a hotspot for Instagram-worthy photos. This narrow street is a lane of art all in itself with stunning visual murals around every corner. Not only will you get to take memorable photos in front of different walls; you’ll also get to bond over coffee and shopping – all in one place. We’d suggest dressing in plain colors so you don’t blend in with the colorful art.
Located in the Civic District of Singapore, National Gallery Singapore houses the biggest public collection of modern art from Southeast Asia. The Gallery can be found in two national monuments, City Hall and the former Supreme Court, which have been restored and turned into a hub of art and culture.
National Gallery Singapore is a great place for a date since you can marvel at different kinds of artwork and share each other’s interpretation of each piece. Many people also love taking pictures alongside works of art since they prove to be gorgeous backdrops for photos. Additionally, posting these photos on social media will let people know about the stunning art they can find in Singapore.
I bet most of you do not know that Singapore has been named the most Instagrammable place of 2022! This Buddha Tooth Relic Temple located in the Chinatown district of Singapore is one of them that has got to be in your Instagram cheat sheet to jazz up your feed.
Much of its beauty lies in its interior where detailed sculptures and carvings pepper the interior of the architectural masterpiece. If you and your date are into history and religion, you wouldn’t want to give this a miss as there are few temples in Singapore with tooth relics. Otherwise, the temple itself is stunning, featuring buddha statues, nagas and beautiful ceremonial venues!
This historical riverside quay is located in the Singapore River Planning Area and serves as access to river cruises and river taxis. A lot of events happen in Clarke Quay due to the fact that there are so many different locations there to host them in. So, no matter what mood you might be in this Valentine’s Day or what kind of person your date is, you are sure to find something to suit their style and preferences at Clarke Quay.
Since there is so much to see at Clarke Quay, you won’t run out of photo ops, either. Some of our favourite spots to take photos at include the Central Business District, Fort Canning Park, Hong San See Temple, and Lockdown Singapore (which comes with the added benefit of fun and games). At night, the Singapore River serves as the perfect backdrop for picturesque photos. Just make sure your night settings are turned on!
Located within Republic Plaza, Nalati is a restaurant that draws heavily from nature – the interior of the restaurant is lush with foliage and tropical motifs along with pops of color featuring Tiffany blue prominently. It feels like a secret garden hideaway squirreled away in the midst of the busy city area, and the furniture and dishware also lend a whimsical touch to the overall ambience.
The restaurant has very Instagram-worthy walls specially designed to make your feed pop, so don’t pass up on this chance to snap some picture perfect #OOTD shots with your bae.
Did we mention that Nalati is a restaurant? You’ll be pleased to know that not only is it a great location for all those pictures you’re going to be taking, but you can also enjoy a romantic dinner there. The Valentine’s Day menu for Nalati features the following dishes that will surely make for one unforgettable night.
