It is really hard to get people excited about household appliances, not to mention a vacuum cleaner specifically, but the engineers at Dyson have managed to do it again and again, making cleaning at home, a cool thing to enjoy with a nifty, well-engineered gadget.
Check out our previous Dyson vacuum reviews here.
With their latest launch, Dyson has got us all excited about cleaning again, this time, with their new omnidirectional fluffy cleaner head that glides in ALL DIRECTIONS – forwards, backwards and even sideways!
All of us would have some hard to reach corners in our home that we struggle to reach with our traditional vacuums. For me, this would be the corners under low standing furnitures like my sofa-bed and the nooks and crannies under the dining table and chairs, without having to shift all of them out. There is always that bits of hidden dust and last piece of small trash that you have to still reach manually or with a manual broom.
The new Dyson Omni-glide vacuum is here to solve these!
NEW Dyson Omni-Glide
The new Dyson Omni-glide is the first ever Dyson vacuum cleaner engineered for daily cleaning in city homes, making it the perfect choice for users who like to vacuum often and get into the difficult nooks and crannies.
Its omnidirectional Fluffy cleaner head has been engineered to glide in all directions – forwards, backwards and even sideways. Rearranged into a new in-line format, the machine can lie flat and clean in tight spaces.
We tested in out ourselves and it works like magic:
We were able to reach all the difficult corners and the Fluffy cleaner head glides seamlessly everywhere, making cleaning a breeze.
With its slim design, light-weight and omni-directional clean, the Omni-Glide is perfect for small city homes in Singapore which may be a little more cluttered due to space constraints. Now I don’t have to move my furniture around as much when I am vacuuming!
Brand new in-line format
For the tech geeks, the science behind is that the Dyson Omni-glide is engineered with an in-line format, with the separation system, the motor, filter and handle all aligned, to enable the machine to lie flat to the floor and clean in tight spaces, such as under a sofa or between furniture.
This new format is the result of extensive research, including 470 hours of trials with 277 users in their homes across six countries.
With this new format, the Dyson engineers had to design a machine that had the core Dyson technologies – including a Dyson Hyperdymium motor – concentrated and rearranged in-line but still able to achieve no loss of suction, and spins at up to 105,000rpm.
Dyson engineers have also maintained the Dyson five-stage filtration proprietary technology, even in this compact format, which ensures the machine can efficiently suck up fine dust hidden in those hard to reach places and capturing 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns and expelling cleaner air.
Omnidirectional Fluffy cleaner head
The Dyson Omni-glide is the first Dyson vacuum that comes with Dyson’s omnidirectional Fluffy cleaner head. It floats on four 360° stabilising castors that allow it to move effortlessly in all directions and into tight spaces.
It is currently Dyson’s most manoeuvrable vacuum due to two core technologies: the omnidirectional Fluffy cleaner head and the in-line format. The castors’ height and placement were engineered to ensure minimal resistance – whether rolling forwards, backwards or sideways. Sealed ball bearings also allow for a smooth change of direction and minimise build-up of dirt.
“We’re pioneers in the vacuum cleaner industry – we created our cyclone technology, removed the bag, and cut the cord with the introduction of our powerful cord-free machines. Today, we’re introducing a brand new way to clean hard floors with the Dyson Omni-glide vacuum,” shares James Dyson, Founder and Chief Engineer.
“The new omnidirectional Fluffy cleaner head is a true testament to our engineering capabilities, and is powered by a Dyson Hyperdymium motor, and features two counter-rotating brush bars that spin at the same speed for pick up in both directions.” He added.
The Dyson Omni-glide also comes with three tools – for cleaning up high, down low and anywhere in between. These tools include a mini motorised tool to tackle hair and ground-in dirt from mattresses and upholstery, a worktop tool and a combination tool. The Dyson Omni-glide+ comes with an additional light pipe crevice tool with LED lights to show you where you’re cleaning, even in dark spaces.
Other key features of the Dyson Omni-glide™ include:
- Easy, smoother bin emptying: the straight, slim bin has an ejection mechanism with a rotary catch, to drive out dust in one smooth action. A silicone collar wipes down the mesh shroud to drive out dust without dirtying your hands.
- Power button: It has a power button instead of the classic trigger, meaning users can swap hands while navigating obstacles, making cleaning that bit easier.
- Easy maintenance: To remove dust build-up, you can wash the bin, filter, brush bar, and any tools without electronic components.
- Removable, fade-free, energy-dense battery: enables up to 20 minutes run time. Swapping the battery has been made easy with the click-in structure where you can remove and replace at the press of a button.
- The wall dock: enables users to lean the machine into the recharging dock, ready for your next clean.
The Dyson Omni-glide cord-free vacuum cleaner is now available at leading electronics stores island-wide in Singapore, on Dyson’s offical website and Dyson Demo stores at Dyson Service Centre & Demo Store – Capitol Singapore, Dyson Demo Zone – Westgate.
