HUAWEI Mate Xs – the improved Huawei foldable mobile device will be available in Singapore this March for S$3,788

Huawei announces the HUAWEI Mate Xs, its latest 5G foldable handset, will be launching in Singapore from 21 March 2020 onwards at a retail price of S$3,788. The HUAWEI Mate Xs builds on its predecessor Mate X with a more powerful SoC and unique mechanical hinge design.

Foldable FullView Display

The HUAWEI Mate Xs comes with a refined version of the Falcon Wing Design. Featuring more than 100 interlocking parts working together in perfect harmony, the Falcon Wing Design minimises the crease on the unfolded screen.

The HUAWEI Mate Xs adopts a Double Aerospace-grade Optical Polyimide Design to create a foldable device that maintains quality screen performance while offering safe, durable foldable technology. On top of it all is a protective layer made of an aerospace-grade optical polyimide (PI).

Folded, the HUAWEI Mate Xs is a dual-screen smartphone featuring a 6.6-inch main screen and a 6.38-inch secondary screen. Located on the sidebar is an easy-to-reach button that unclasps the folded display with a simple press. Unfurled, the smartphone becomes a tablet featuring an Immersive 8’’ FullView Display.

5G connectivity

The HUAWEI Mate Xs comes with a Kirin 990 5G chipset which includes an integrated 5G modem. This is the world’s first chipset to deliver powerful performance and 5G connectivity simultaneously with better efficiency and lower heat output.

Graphics processing is handled by the 16-core Mali-G76 GPU, the most powerful GPU on Huawei handsets which enhances the quality of images, making them sharper.

High-definition camera system

The HUAWEI Mate Xs houses a SuperSensing Leica Quad Camera in a vertical array along its sidebar. The camera system features:

  • 40MP SuperSensing Wide camera
  • 16MP Ultra-Wide camera
  • 8MP Telephoto camera
  • 3D Depth Sensing camera

The main camera is a 40MP SuperSensing Wide camera, equipped with a large 1/1.7inch RYYB sensor. The RYYB sensor replaces green pixels in the traditional RGGB Bayer array with yellow pixels, allowing more light into the sensor. This generates more vivid photography, capturing more detailed information and ultimately providing a higher image quality. The HUAWEI Mate Xs has an aperture of f/1.8 with a maximum ISO of 204,800.

The 16MP Ultra-Wide camera features a 17mm focal length and 2.5cm microfocus capabilities, lending itself to a wide range of photographic scenarios from scenic landscape shots and group photos, to extreme close-ups of small objects.

The HUAWEI Mate Xs in Interstellar Blue will be retailing at S$3,788 islandwide from 21 March 2020 in all Huawei Concept stores, official online stores with Lazada and Shopee, and:

The HUAWEI Mate Xs runs on EMUI10.0.1, an Android Open Source Project-based operating system which offers enhanced performance, improved security and better mobile customization.

Benefits of UOB Mighty on HUAWEI AppGallery

United Overseas Bank (UOB) is the first bank in Singapore to have its consumer mobile banking app, UOB Mighty, accessible through HUAWEI’s official app store, AppGallery.

From early April onwards, UOB Mighty will be pre-installed on all HUAWEI Mate Xs sold in Singapore.  With one in four UOB customers already using a HUAWEI phone, having UOB Mighty pre-installed will help simplify their handset upgrade experience.
