TikTok unveils a region-wide All-Star talent competition that aims to discover and incubate new creators in Southeast Asia, as a new study reveals that short-form video is one of the top three content formats that people prefer to use as a tool to express their creative ideas.
The inaugural TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 competition is open for submission across all six markets in the region including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Starting from 8 to 14 November, TikTok users in Singapore can participate in the competition by uploading original videos that showcase their creative talent according to the below themes along with the corresponding hashtags:
- #TalentAllStarSG – Talent (Dance, Singing, Art, Crafts, Street Performance, etc.)
- #ActingAllStarSG – Acting (Comedy, Acting, Parody, Storytelling, etc.)
- #LifestyleAllStarSG – Lifestyle (Vlog, Food, Travel, Pets, Fashion, Sports, etc.)
How to Join
- Choose your challenge by choosing hashtags: #TalentAllStarSG, #ActingAllStarSG, or #LifestyleAllStarSG
- Post an original video(s) with the corresponding hashtag.
- Share your post and invite your friends to join.
- You are recommended to use themed stickers and music. Learn more here.
The top 60 videos in each country will go through a round of public voting where the best 10 finalists in each category (30 finalists per country in total) will be selected to compete at the regional level. Users in Singapore can vote for their favourite videos by clicking the TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 banner in the TikTok app and visiting the voting page from 15 to 18 November.
The finalists from Singapore will compete at the regional level with creators from across Southeast Asia. The regional round of the competition will be held from 21 to 25 November with the final winner announcement for TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 to be made on 1 December.
There are a total of US$12,000 worth of prizes and 16 awards to be won:
Acting Award
- Grand Champion (1 winner) – $1,000
- 1st Runner Up (1 winner) – $600
- 2nd Runner Up (1 winner) – $300
Talent Award
- Grand Champion (1 winner) – $1,000
- 1st Runner Up (1 winner) – $600
- 2nd Runner Up (1 winner) – $300
Lifestyle Award
- Grand Champion (1 winner) – $1,000
- 1st Runner Up (1 winner) – $600
- 2nd Runner Up (1 winner) – $300
- Jury Award (1 winner) – $1,000
- Rising Star (6 winners) – $300
- Creator Finalists (36 winners) – $100

The celebrity judges will also be sharing their tips and tricks on how to create an engaging and creative video.
