Takashimaya, Japan’s iconic department store, has announced Love The Earth campaign as part of its commitment to deliver a sustainable and environmentally conscience retail environment for its shoppers. A month before the global Earth Day annual event, Takashimaya will spearhead a series of in-store recycling, upcycling initiatives, promotions on eco-friendly products and healthy lifestyle activities in partnership with Singapore and international partners, they will also be encouraging people on what the marine recovered ocean plastic material yarn is.
Love The Earth campaign that will be packed with talks, exhibition and fitness programs, will be held storewide from 25 March to 30 April 2019.
Takashimaya has secured an exclusive partnership with a leading conservation organisation, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Renowned for their six sustainability pillars – Forest, Ocean, Wild Life, Food, Climate and Fresh Water – the tie-up with Takashimaya is an important one to spread the message of reduced consumption and zero waste directly with everyday shoppers. 100% of the proceeds generated from the Love The Earth campaigns during the month-long festival will be donated to WWF.
Exhibition at Level 3 (25 March – 30 April 2019)
Students from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) have been invited to upcycle fabric and breathe new life into past season clothes. Using their imagination, innovation and complete design freedom, the students will use past season collection from local brands to create 100% new designs out of “past.”
Rose Room, Level 3 (29 – 31 March 2019)
Recycling packages and natural skincare products will be a key campaign highlight. The store will have a recycling program where customers can drop off their empty cosmetic jars or bottles and with every $80 spent at any beauty and accessories counter at Level 1, an intricate custom-made terrarium can be redeemed.
Exhibition at Level 2 (25 March – 7 April 2019)
Striking a strategic partnership with Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF), shoppers will also be able to learn about the leather industry. Recycling and repurpose to promote sustainable fashion to customers. APLF will showcase the use of off-cut leather to produce entirely new items – resulting in zero waste. Eight special designers will showcase their creations which will be sold for charity. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to WWF.
Level 1 (18 – 30 April 2019)
Takashimaya is also hoping to influence customers into embracing upcycling. Instead of disposing of old jewellery collection, customers will be invited to bring their assorted sparkles and bling to the store where a team of craft experts will transform these into new chic, fun and creative designs.
Basement 1 (25 March – 30 April 2019)
Thoughtfully sourced labels and products will be available to consumers throughout the campaign period such as Ball Mason Glass Jars, ECOYA, Greenpan, Manna Silicone Straws, Scentered.
Food Hall, Basement 2 (25 March – 30 April 2019)
Throughout the campaign, customers spending a minimum of $50 at the Food Hall will be able to collect their free water bottle – a simple yet important initiative to encourage zero waste and adoption of reusable bottles culture.
Takashimaya Square, B2 (12 – 14 April 2019)
Each of the three days will also feature a series of interactive activities, fitness workouts, talks, healthy eating demonstrations, green beauty alternatives and more. Led by key partners such as Public Utilities Board (PUB), green warriors and local producers who have made impressive commitments to Singapore’s local farming projects, visitors to the market will be treated to a series of exciting programmes.
