2018 was a big year for Qantas. Last year, the company launched the historic Perth-London service, brought back the Kangaroo Route to operate via Singapore, and announced an extensive lounge upgrade programme that will see a brand-new First lounge at Changi Airport in 2019.
Since the Singapore-London services commenced on March 2018, Singapore is now the largest Qantas hub outside of Australia. In 2018, it has flown over 730,000 passengers out of Singapore to over 260 destinations, including more than 60 destinations in Australia.
Top Destinations
The new Singapore-London route was a milestone for Qantas. What’s more is a new Sydney-Bendigo route will soon commence starting 31 March 2019. It also re-introduced the A380 service from Singapore to Melbourne and Sydney, offering First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins to our customers.
Overall, the most popular Qantas destinations from Singapore were Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, and Auckland.
Food and Drinks
Qantas proudly boasts that they were able to serve 20,000 bowls of laksa in Qantas Singapore Lounge in 2018. Along with it, over 100,000 glasses of Australian wines were served and over 130,000 bottles of champagne were opened.
The favourite in-flight meal is the Steak Sandwich which was served more than 25,000 times. Additionally, the data shows that customers also enjoy maintaining a balanced diet when travelling. Over 40,000 Botanica probiotic shots inflight were served all year round.
Inflight Entertainment
The most watch movie for 2018 in Qantas flights were Mission: Impossible – Fallout as number one, followed by Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean’s 8, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Black Panther. Incredibles 2 became the most-watched film in the children’s category.
The most-watched TV box set is Billions, Westworld, Riverdale, Ballers, and Britannia. For comedy shows, Modern Family ranked on top. It is followed by The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Family Guy, and American Dad.
