Pickering’s signature durian fiesta is back from 27th July to 26th August 2018.

South East Asia’s ‘King of Fruits’ takes centre stage at PARKROYAL on Pickering from end July with the return of Lime Restaurant’s signature creation Thorny Temptations.

Durian lovers will be in seventh heaven for four weeks, as the acclaimed restaurant located in the heart of Chinatown serves up the fruit in countless forms. From appetisers to after-dinner treats and everything in between, Executive Chef Yap Wai Lunn has devised a menu that stretches the imagination as much as it excites the palate.

Taking diners on a culinary journey through South-East Asia, Thorny Temptations boasts a gastronomic extravaganza of all things durian in the form of sweet, spicy and savoury delicacies with many innovatively fused with premium Mao Shan Wang.

Famed for its size, smell, spikey shell and sweet custardy taste, the fruit splits opinion wherever it’s served. But Thorny Temptations isn’t just for committed enthusiasts. With tasty delights created for durian-virgins and seasoned afficianados alike, there really is something for everyone at this seasonal fruit-fiesta.

Those fancying a lighter dish should try Durian Wild Rice and Chicken Salad, or if you’re a fan of spicy local hawker delights, you won’t want to miss the Baked Durian Nasi Lemak or Durian Curry Chicken. Other local favourites include the Wok-Fried Kung Pao Pork Belly with Durian and Durian Salted Egg Popcorn Chicken.

Purists, who would rather do without the fanfare, can venture outside for the freshest seasonal produce served from a traditional pop-up stall between 7pm and 9pm. The spectacle of the king of fruits being cracked open by the experienced knife-wielding culinary team never fails to impress diners of all ages.

And even then the show’s not over! Last but by no means least, sweet treats await at Lime’s famed dessert bar. With delectables including Durian with Avocado Puree and Sago, and classic delight Durian Pengat, Thorny Temptations is sure to keep you coming back for more.
